I checked my mother in law application this morning and ecas showing “application received” on May 15th.

I believe since it is now visible on ecas system, the application pkg assumed to be completed, right?
No is the answer to your question. Read post 7747 pg 517 re: eCAS update vs AoR (which is when application is assumed complete)

A few (crazy intern :p:D:p) updates outside of the April 30th mark; but I didn't see any concrete movement / updates (AoR) for week of May 1st receipts...

Hello everyone...I have a quick question to all of you if you can provide some advise....I am getting conflicted info...so wanted to ask the forum....I am sponsoring my father only....my biological mother passed away long ago and my dad re-married....well the 2nd marriage didn't work out and he is legally separated now....so under generic application for principal applicant.....does he put legally separated and provide the 2nd wife's info under previous marriage or my biological mother's info? Did anyone experienced this? I just don't want the file to be returned because for this mistake......also intended occupation in the generic application for my father would be retired or something else? thanks all !
He needs to provide details of his 2nd wife. I know this for sure. The question is does he need to provide your mom's details? I would personally do that through cover letter.

Here is one additional brain-fart...
  • Assuming we get 265 people in tracker by end of June 28th (265 is the number for 2018 in the tracker) each application would appx represent 100 applications - 265*100 = 26,500 = appx number of invitations sent this year by CIC
  • By this assumption, one can ROUGHLY calculate the number of applications received along with your application. E.g. I am row 45 in the Tracker, so number of applications received by CIC till that date = 45*100 i.e. 4,500
  • However, it is not so linear...
  • April 24th to April 30th, fewer applications were received. 20 in tracker or (20*100 = 2,000 by CIC). Makes sense, as most people were still completing applications. quite a few still are. So the burden on CIC officers is very low. Applications are processed faster. Crazy interns are rampant :p
  • May 1 to 10th, a lot more applications were received. 45 in tracker or (45*100 = 4,500 by CIC).So, the burden on CIC officers is relatively higher. Applications are processed slower...
  • And so on and so forth...
Bottom line, I feel the closer the application is received by CIC to the June 28th deadline, the slower it will be processed (relative to the April & early May initial processing timeframes)...

Hey all, thanks for the great participation and helping with variety of issues.

My situation:
I am currently unemployed since the start of 2019, so will be putting my income in IMM5768 Q14 as $0, and employer as "Unemployed". The thing is I have enough income to satisfy MNI for 2016-2018 tax years, and I expect to land a good job in the next month which will help my 2019 income as well. At this point however, my income for 2019 is $0 and I'm unemployed.

I have three questions:
1. Would the "Unemployed" current status in Q14 in IMM5768 be a problem? Has this happened to anyone before?

2. What is the difference between "Self-employed" and "Unemployed" in this situation? Could I write "Self-employed" with $0 income as well? I'm thinking about this as it might sound better than "Unemployed" with $0.

3. Can I submit forms with printed signatures on them? My parents are in India and they have signed the forms but the couriers will take too long and I don't want to wait at this point. They have scanned the signed forms and sent the e-copy to me via email.

Hello Everyone

I sent my PGP application on Friday and suppose to deliver tomorrow through Canada Post. I just realized that I forgot to include form IMM 5406. I ask Canada post to return my application but they refused. Just want to check what are my options. is this going to be rejected or can I send this form separately with explanation letter. Any help will be appreciated.

I would present this differently, and like so

Response for 1 & 2
1. First and foremost, great that you can comfortably submit the application based on 2016-2018 income. AWESOME.
2. No matter what you input for 2019 - unemployed / self-employed, the fact of the matter is that till date income is zero. CIC will flag this and will request additional information at a later date. Self-employed with zero income will probably raise a bigger flag (if there is such a thing) than unemployed with zero income.
3. The good news is that you WILL get a job in the next month or so, and so when CIC will ask for further proof, you will have it in the form of paystubs, employment contract / letter etc.
4. Any reason why you are not on EI?
5. Here is what I suggest - If you are certain on item 3 above and if Item 4 above is not in play; I would put "On a Break / Resigned from Employment / On Vacation" for 2019. You will still get flagged, but perhaps it is a safer bet...? At the end of the day, you are the boss...

Response for 3

You can, but please note that CIC may ask for originals at a later date. This has been answered by CIC in tweets and has been discussed at length in the previous pages on this forum/thread.

If I was a CIC agent, a combination of Items 1& 2 and the scanned forms would beg some greater scrutiny. No reason for rejection at all, just greater scrutiny.

Wishing you the best for the job.

Self-employed can be even with negative income, as self-employed income means self-employed income minus expenses, and a lot of self employed businesses at the beginning has negative or 0 income. I don't advise to put self-employed wit 0 income, I advise to put actual, as later it is very easy to figure out from your 2019 tax return. I only wanted to point that self-employed with 0 income is possible, but the appropriate explanation should be provided.

Agreed, but it didn't seem like @amusingfirefly is actually self-employed. There is some paperwork required / that goes along with being self-employed and s/he may be digging a deeper hole with this story.
