An
open work permit (open WP) is a great opportunity to work in Canada temporarily. It enables you to work with any employer you wish.
You can apply for an open work permit if you are the spouse/common-law partner of a post-graduate student who already holds a work permit as a highly
skilled worker.
Eligibility to apply
The principal worker needs to be already employed in an occupation under the
National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill levels 0, A or B.
To submit the application, here are additional documents you will need to include:
- A copy of your spouse/common-law partner’s open work permit,
- A proof that they are employed in an occupation in skill level 0, A or B,
- A letter from their current employer confirming employment or a copy of their employment offer or contract, and
- A copy their last three pay slips.
