Hi there,

I am completing my graduation in June 2019 and My wife is working in MNC with SWOP.
My study permit and her SWOP will expire in March 2020, currently, I don't have any job offer.

Is it possible to apply for PGOP along with my wife's SWOP extension? Or is it necessary to have a job offer in hand before my wife's SWOP?

Thanks

It's not enough to have a job offer. In order for your wife's SOWP to be extended, you must already be working in a NOC A, B or 0 role and be able to provide three payslips to prove this employment.

In that case, Is it possible if i just apply my PGWP and leaving her SWOP as it is. And apply when my 3 payslips ready?

Thanks

Thanks for answering.. I have contacted immigration official and they sent me with below info which is same as you said..

Open work permit - Spouse or common-law partner of a post-graduate student holding a work permit under NOC O, A or B

An open work permit (open WP) is a great opportunity to work in Canada temporarily. It enables you to work with any employer you wish.

You can apply for an open work permit if you are the spouse/common-law partner of a post-graduate student who already holds a work permit as a highly skilled worker.

Eligibility to apply

The principal worker needs to be already employed in an occupation under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill levels 0, A or B.

To submit the application, here are additional documents you will need to include:

  • A copy of your spouse/common-law partner’s open work permit,
  • A proof that they are employed in an occupation in skill level 0, A or B,
  • A letter from their current employer confirming employment or a copy of their employment offer or contract, and
  • A copy their last three pay slips.
Application form

The application is available on our website. You can either:

  • Apply online, or
  • Send an application by mail.
We recommend reading the instruction guide first, it will assist you in completing and submitting your application.

Once your work permit is approved, you can start working.

To find out how long it may take to process your application, please visit the processing times page.

I have a similar situation as you. I got my PGWP on February,2020. I didn’t have enough paystub so didn’t apply for my husband.
Today I went to Point Robert to flagpole but they told me to apply online as they were busy.
-I opened my CIC account and created a application but I didn’t find any place to upload my job letter and paystub.
- Can anyone tell me where should I to upload these documents. Thank you
