You have no idea what my history is and I know quite a lot more than most IMGs actually. There are plenty of IMGs who weren’t able to find their niche in the Canada job market and left Canada. Many couldn’t deal with the fact that they weren’t going to be doctors and the prestige that went with their previous profession. Some have not pursued skilled professional jobs and have decided to pursue non-skilled jobs. Many can’t get over the bitterness and refuse to entertain returning to school or pursuing other jobs. Not every IMG was actually a skilled physician. Plenty of international schools with low standards. I have met IMGs that have not been able to complete their Canadian residencies. Also plenty of skilled IMGs that have decided to move to Canada without realizing they wouldn’t be able to practicing or being arrogant enough to know they would be the small percentage that would be accepted for retraining. The fact that so many IMGs have not research the difficulty in retraining boggles my mind. For educated people not doing a simple google search doesn’t reinforce your claims that they are able to accomplish things that Canadians would not be able to do.

If you have such superior talents and so many degrees that are superior to Canada why were you not able to get a residency position or a public health job. I was very impressed that you had arrived in Canada with an open mind and decided being a nurse or nurse practitioner would fulfill you because you were helping others but your attitude and negative opinion about Canadians and their intellect is outrageous. Lots of IMGs have left Canada. Many had a wonderful quality of life in their own home countries or were living and working in a 3rd country. They would have never moved if they had realized how difficult it would be to work as a physician in Canada. You are the one making assumptions

Sir, you are the Great Canadian. I have only one request please do not give your suggestions to IMG’s if you are not an IMG. Your knowledge is coming from websites.
Your comment clearly shows that you don’t have any university degree.
Don’t need to worry about me.
I hope IMG’s are reading these comments and please do not listen to these fake IMG’s in this forum.

It looks like you live in a ideal Canada, where everyone is hardworking and no one is lazy. Every Canadian is capable of achieving anything they can without studying and getting low grades in school. Are you kidding.....You have problem with thought process man. Go have a life and stop worrying about IMG’s and people immigrating to Canada.

Actually I am very educated and know all about the health care system in Canada an IMGs. I have given out accurate advice that is similar to what other IMGs have said. Never said I was an IMG and the IMGs on this forum seem to have not done a lot of research and still believe they will likely be able to practice if they work hard enough which is not the case. Most of my knowledge is from real life and not from articles or websites.

Never said that all Canadians are hard working but also don't believe your statements about IMGs being better than Canadians and that they will all be extremely successful in Canada. There are good and bad people in all scenarios. I will keep warning IMGs to consider other countries if they want to practice medicine. That is the nice and responsible thing to do.

Hi
I haven’t submitted anything yet
And the submission is done through IRB or IRCC ?
IRCC. IRB is for refugees. Where are you from? Most IMGs aren't ever able to practice once they arrive in Canada. Most are required to repeat their residences after passing the Canadian licensing exams but there are very few spots available. Less than 5% of IMGs are able to retrain and most are limited to family medicine. Would encourage you to do more research unless you are from a few countries like US, UK, Australia, NZ, Ireland and a few more.

I am a MD Radiodiagnosis from India. I was looking for fellowship opportunities in Canada in the field of Intervention/ Musculoskeletal Radiology and also for working opportunities post fellowship.

Following are my educational details-

Observer Fellowship in Intervention and MSK Radiology (January-March 2019)

Mass General Hospital, Harvard University, Boston, USA

MD, Radiodiagnosis (2015-2018)

Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre, Bangalore, India

MBBS (2009-2015)

M S Ramaiah Medical College, Bangalore, India

Is it possible for me to work in Canada with the current qualifications or is it possible for me to apply for a fellowship and work in Canada post that. If yes, could you please enlighten me on the pathway I need to follow.

Thankyou

There are no jobs on this board. You may be able to get a fellowship. You’d have to see if there are any openings. The yearlong fellowships are starting soon so are likely full. Did you actually do a short paid fellowship at Harvard or were you just observing? Honestly you have zero chance of practicing radiology in Canada. It would require you passing the licensing exams and redoing your whole residency. Since radiology fellowships are sought after there will never be one available. To begin with there are very few residency spots available but the small number are usually in family medicine and even rural family medicine. I would research the likelihood of practicing as an IMG in Canada. You will see how difficult it is and how so many IMGs have been devastated that after moving to Canada they never got licensed. Have you looked into other countries? Even US has J1 waiver program. UK, Australia, NZ, other European countries would be something I would look into. If you are looking to make a good income and have a good lifestyle the various gulf countries are always looking for physicians.

Not bad for every field but really bad for physicians. Even Canadian new graduate who are can have difficulty finding jobs after graduation. If you want to practice medicine don’t move to Canada. Would research other countries or not move at all. I am sure I will get criticism for discouraging people from moving to Canada but seems crazy to move to a country where you won’t be able to practice medicine when you could stay in your home country and have a good life or move somewhere else where your training can be used.

No problem. Unfortunately there are wait times in Canada to access healthcare so many interpret that as jobs being available for physicians in Canada. It has to do with budget constraints and not about the lack of doctors to hire. Some consultants also mislead people or relatives hear on the news that there is a shortage of doctors and encourage relatives to relocate. Surprising how little research some doctors do before relocating. Even if they have looked up the process of relicensing, most have not looked up the statistics about how many IMGs get licensed or dead the stories of previous IMGs who are angry that they came to Canada. Some do plan on a career change but all consultants recommend masters in public health or hospital administration which are also tough area to get jobs.

Do you have any idea about other fields as well example marketing or sales job , just the job market in general ?
