It can take 3-5 months. 3 months would be considered fast. Were you in status when you applied?

I applied my open WP along with PR application, my application was received in Fev 01, I got my WP in March 29.
Going by January inland applicants next we can expect our background checks to begin within 4-5 weeks after having medical passed.
Some November inland applicants are getting decision made now so fingers crossed they continue processing so quickly.

PR+OWP App received- 14 Feb
AOR and med request - 17 April
Medical done - 24 April
Current status on ECAS- We have received your medical exam.

You can check your status by making a login on GCkey which is easy and you can see all the steps in details or over the phone here is the contact number 1-888-242-2100
You are on implied status since your application is in process so no worries there. Have you linked your OWP application on GCkey yet? If it hasn't already been approved your OWP approval should be the next step for you.
Ah ok well then yes you will have to wait til then for the OWP unfortunately. Going by January inland applicants the next step is the beginning of background checks about 4-5weeks after medicals passed.
If you have a representative like immigration lawyer or consultant then yes you won't be able to access your application on gckey only your representative will since applications can only be linked to one account.
I just looked at September/October/November applicants and they are getting AIP about 3-4 months after medicals. Some of them got DM within a month of that. So AIP really seems to come close to the end of the process..
