Paper

You may need to give biometrics with your application. This processing time doesn’t include the time you need to give your biometrics.
Good day,

My application was submitted online from within Canada (for a Spousal Open Work Permit) on January 29. Still no response. How soon can I expect a response?
Also, where would I go to check processing time?

Where does it say 5 weeks?

As of now, processing time from India is 97 days. Remember you need to choose "work permit application (new employer)" while checking for SOWP processing time
Please do your research before posting. Your answer might mislead those who relying on this forum.
The option you mentioned is is for work permit renewal, not new work permit.

*Which temporary residence application? (required)
Answer to this question should be "Work permit" and processing time for India is 5 weeks at this moment.

My friend's wife got her SOWP in 4 week and I'm waiting on my application.
She applied on April 23/19 and she got her PPR on May 12/19. (SOWP outland)

I got this information from this forum itself. People have shared their timelines which match with information I posted.

Also, some people get approval before average processing period. Doesn't happen with everyone.

I saw they’re misinformed as well. CIC is pretty much straight forward, if you’re applying for work permit for the first time, select work permit, not extension or same employer work permit.

A lot of applications were delayed during past months, but you can always contact CIC past processing time. They do take their job seriously.( At least agents I talked so far).

Have you actually looked at the application. They give very precise directions of what must be included.

It seems you're misinformed. There are countless timelines shared for SOWP. It takes 80-90 days on an average. Once in a blue moon, someone gets approval in 2-3 weeks.

You're right! A lot of people on this forum are waiting, but you've to understand that people who get their SWOP within normal processing time will not bother to use this forum (maybe a few good ones), only people past the 4-5 time frame will report that their application is stuck. So you will see a lot of people waiting but it doesn't mean every application is delayed than regular processing time.
5 weeks is what they for application from India.

We have seen many people waiting 4-5 months for SOWP. Maybe they are now processing faster. Agree that 2-3 weeks is very fast. Rarely even happens for priority cases in the expedited special skills category.
