Parent Sponsorship Income Eligibility 2019

Hi,

I want to sponsor my parents and need your guidance to determine if I would be eligible

I landed in Canada in Aug 2016 on work-permit and became PR in Jan 2018. I have notice of assessment for 2016, 2017 and 2018. I do meet the income requirement for 2017 and 2018 however for 2016 since I earned a salary only since Aug to Dec it is coming below the minimum requirement.

Question 1: since I was not in Canada full 2016; I came in Aug. Would CIC qualify even though 2016 NOA shows lower income? or extrapolate my 5months of earning to 12months to qualify me? (or I can give my offer later which will show higher annual income)

Question 2: Let's say I apply now; by the time CIC start processing my parent's application (let's say mid-2020), I would have 2019 NOA in hand will that help me if I apply now? or I would be disqualified?

Question 3: is there a way I can apply for my parent's sponsorship this year? or I need to wait at least one more year

1. No, they won't.
2. No it won't....they will refuse the application
3. Unlikely since you don't meet LICO for 2016....It's a requirement.

Since you don't meet 2016 LICO, your application will be refused. Your 2019 income will not be considered for the initial application as you had to meet income requirements for the previous 3 years as well. You can submit the application, but it will ultimately be refused. Better to wait till you meet LICO.

You don’t qualify to sponsor your parents and shouldn’t have entered the lottery this year.

Unlike previous years IRCC asked for identification this year.

So there is a possibility of then building a database of people submitting EOI but not applying after getting ITA.

It is only fair that people who abuse the system by making false declarations that they meet LICO be blacklisted.

Such questions about whether you met income requirements should be asked BEFORE you declare you meet LICO and submit EOI.

Now you have taken a spot from someone else.

How selfish and inconsiderate and impudent is that?

While I won’t dispute that taking a spot when you aren’t qualified is irresponsible, banning someone from sponsoring at a later date would end up in court. And the plaintiff would likely win. So if someone meets LICO and, for whatever reason, decides not to proceed with sponsorship, they should be put on some sort of list that prevents them sponsoring? Utter nonsense.

Making false declarations is an offence as well.

People should pay the price for their mistakes and impudence. It is part of the package.
