Is it ok to travel outside of canada after oath ceremony without applying for canadian passport and return to canada with PR card?
I need to attend family emergency back home and cant wait for the passport and visa processing to be completed before i travel.
If anyone has information about this, please
They (cic) will take the pr card , at cermon
If passport is needed urgently you can apply for
It under urgent processing and get it very next day
From what I know, they will take back your PR card at the oath ceremony. You will not have PR card to return to Canada. But you can call them to re-schedule the oath to another day after your trip back home.Congratulations to all those who received oath ceremony date.

Permanent residence status changes to citizen on the day of ceremony. You can no longer use your PR card as you have to surrender that before taking the oath.Congratulations to all those who received oath ceremony date.
