Great, in case you are inland applicant, then your application for some reason moved to IP2 since the beginning!! if today's' updates changed NOTHING in your application, it could be a good sign, who knows if you dont have a big travelling history and all your documents and requirements are straight and clear then you might get PPR soon... GOOD LUCK 2 ALL

That's interesting, my travel history is quite small so maybe it's a good sign indeed! Thanks for your assessment.

Anyone with expired PGWP and waiting for Bridging Work permit to come in?
My WP will expire on May 6. I've applied for a BOWP on Feb 6 and haven't gotten any updates yet. :( Did you get any updates?

I'm extremely anxious because my WP is IEC and therefore, I have no implied status on my work permit (when it expires I'll have to stop working until the new one comes in).

I also have "we are processing your background check" since day 1, however I applied from US while my spouse in Canada (and have long travel history).

When did you apply for your BOWP? I see the current processing time is 89 days, so I expecting mine to be approved around May 3 (3 days before my WP expires). I already told my boss that I might have to stop working for a couple of weeks in may. He wasn't happy about it, but agreed. None of us wants to get into trouble for this, and he needs me to renew my SIN before HR will let me start working again.

I know this topic is debated a lot but I feel like cic has changed information on the website and made it clear that you can keep working under your implied status while you're waiting, including IEC.

"Option 2:
Apply for another type of work permit.

If you apply for a new work permit, you should submit your application at least 30 days before your International Experience Canada work permit expires. This will ensure that you don’t lose legal status in Canada.

If your work permit expires before we process your application, you can keep working in Canada until you receive a decision on your application. This is known as implied status."

also this one mentions IEC specifically (can't work only if you applied AFTER, so if before...:)

"Who doesn’t have implied status
You don’t have implied status if you:
  • apply to extend your IEC participation after your work permit expires
    • you must stop working on the day your work permit expires"

Wow, is that new? I did a lot of research in January and I don't recall coming across those links. They made it 100% clear now that I can keep working in implied status while I wait for the BOWP. I am very surprised, that was a grey area for a long time.

Thank you so much. I'll talk to my boss and let him know that I don't have to stop working.
