I like the way your mind is working@schweisy
I almost want Vienna to request additional docs from us. (a new PCC for example, since ours expired in December) I have a feeling that when you submit additional docs, it makes them have another look at your file and it may very well cut your waiting time. I contacted Vienna VO via webform in late February. At this time I submitted "Use of Representative form" so that I could receive info on behalf of my husband who is a PR. I used this opportunity to officially ask about AOR2 because I wanted to make sure they did get the file on Feb 1st. Surprisingly, I received an e-mail from Vienna in which they confirmed that my AOR2 was Feb 1st. (this e-mail came early March) 2 weeks later, I received Pre-arrival letter.
I could be completely wrong too. Any thoughts or theories on this at all?
I actually had never considered this before... my assumption would be that when you send something, the bureaucrats just shove it into whatever file it belongs to and don't open it up. But you actually bring up a good point -- it's also reasonable to assume that if you send something they have to stop and look at it and figure out why you sent it/if it's the right item/etc, which could make them return to the file. If BFDs have any role to play in this, that could be helpful in bringing attention back to it earlier. Very interesting....
This is making me wonder if perhaps we actually shouldn't wait until the very last minute to apply for my husband's study permit.... I know that study permits and PR apps are totally separate processes, but considering it's the same UCI, maybe if you apply for the study permit and they check on the PR app and if it's basically done, that shakes something loose...? Hmmm.
I do have a theory that Vienna possibly works on groups of applications from the same countries at the same time. It's mostly just an impression based on the timelines from the past year or two, but it does seem like several people from one specific country get their DMs at the same time. On the other hand, that could just be that they're all released on the same day. Still, I'm curious to see what happens with the couple other people who are from Germany on here and if we end up getting our decisions all around the same time, despite the difference in when our applications arrived there.
Anyway! My suspicion is that your pre-arrival letter's timing was a coincidence, since it was 2 weeks later, but of course it's so frustratingly hard to say. You absolutely got that letter way earlier after AOR2 than even the usual timelines for Vienna the past couple years, and the other gal from Germany who also had the AOR2 of Feb. 1 said she hadn't received hers, so it is definitely a mystery.... I am very curious how long it will take for DM for you now. I think at this point I'm as anxious about your application progressing as my own, because it gives me an idea of how things are moving there!
