I am following the thread for my local Visa office my son's file was transferred to. The issue is with them. But from what I am seeing will get MR before this week runs out

I see. Same here, when it was transferred to our local VO, updates seems to be delayed.. Let's just hope for the best though!

Kids sponsorship application timeline:
Application send - Nov 14th 2018.
Received - Nov 20th 2018
AOR - Jan 20th 2019
Sponsor approval - Feb 7th 2019
Medical request - Feb 8th 2019
File send to Local VO - Feb 14th 2019
Medical Passed
Processing starts at VO - Feb 19th 2019

No Info after that or no communication

I would like to know that the processing time of 8-9 months counts from the day CIC receive the application or from AOR date.
When should i expect the request of submitting the passports as my wife has to come in june, otherwise she won't be able to complete 2 yrs in canada to get her PR renew

Should i apply for visitor visa for my kids so that they can come here if we will not get any update till april end.

From what I read on the Canada.ca website I believe the timeline starts from the day CIC receives your application.

Could anyone please tell me

Once you have reached the passport request stage, does it mean the sponsorship application has been approved? Also the passport means the dependent’s passport?

AOR: Jan 16/2019
Sponsorship Approval: Feb. 13/2019
Med Request: Feb. 19/2019
Med completed: Feb. 23/2019
App transferred to VO: Feb 27/2019
Waiting Med passed
Waiting PPR

Yes, I got approved for sponsorship on Feb. 13.. What I'm waiting right now is the approval of my son's PR (As there are 2 categories in processing: sponsorship approval, which usually comes first, and then PR processing, based on others time line as well).. And yes, you are correct. It is safe to say that everything is good once you get PPR...

Over 10 months and got an update for my now 18yr old son:
Background check -----We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information.

For my 8 year old son:
Decision Made

Praying in few days they will email me PPR..

I need help with the forms to sponsor my depenent child. Also do I need a Consent letter from the Mum since we are no longer married. She's on my Landed documents

You can get the forms, guide and checklist from this link. Select sponsor dependent child only http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/spouse.asp

I suppose if the mother did not land with you and will not co-sign, then you have to submit Declaration from Non-Accompanying Parent/Guardian for Minors Immigrating to Canada (IMM 5604). If she landed with you, you might have to submit a consent letter. May be someone with more experience on this can provide you with more info
