Good day experts,

I am filing tax return for 2018, May I have your help.
I earned "salary" type of income from employment, from China, the country with Income exempt under a tax treaty.
In the software, after I filled in my total income, there is a filed ask the amount of Income exempt under a tax treaty.
I tried to find everywhere I can, including CRA, and the government website of country A and Canada.
There is certain article, but there is no content about How to calculate the amount, what the ration%, or what the amount should be.

Not sure why the image cannot be displayed, here is the URL:

May I have your help on this, what amount I should fill?
Thank you.

If you aren't going to say what country, no one can really help you.

Oh, I thought somewhere a list is there.
I earned the salary type of income from employment from China and use UFile as the software.
(also edited in OP)
Thanks.

How much time did you spend in Canada in 2018? Are you a PR?
Yes, I am PR, spent most time of 2018 in Canada, so I need to file my tax return.
I understand if I spent less time in Canada, I could claim as a non-resident in tax purpose.
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.
No, all the income I've earned from China is after I became a PR of Canada.
All income earned after you became a tax resident is taxable in Canada. If the income was taxed at source, you can get a tax credit. Income exempt under a tax treaty refers to a certain type of business income, pension income and support payment. Whether your income falls into this category you need to contact CRA to find out for sure.

It seems the CRA is the only way. I will contact them then.

Sounds like you were just drawing a normal salary so like everyone in Canada you're going to have to pay taxes. Only fair. Wish I could say you could trust the call centre 100%.
