Hello,

My name is Kenneth and I am a US citizen planning to marry my fiancee in Missisauga.

We have a few concerns regarding the wedding. Our plan is to get married first in Canada, after that I will go back to the U.S and then file a sponsor (Outland) then wait for the process to get approved then I move to Canada with the intent to live.

With that plan, what do I tell to the immigration officer when I arrive at the airport for the wedding day? Do I tell the truth? Or just say visiting my fiancee?

I asked this question because every time I visit my fiancee the officers always ask me how long am I gonna stay, are we getting married during my visit, do I plan to go back to the US, and so on.

Some people say never mention the wedding to the officer because it'll get me in big trouble and that's what I don't understand, how am I gonna get in trouble if my intention is not illegal?

I think there is no issue if you say you are coming to marry your fiancé and wedding has been planned. You can show invitations or something. Also maybe have evidence with you about returning back (letter from employer expecting you back to work etc.

Hubby and I were married and doing back and forth USA-Canada and he drove up here when I was about to have our first baby. He told the border officer the truth he's coming for the birth of his child and how long he will stay and had no issues crossing.
