Work Permit Question

Hi,

Another question but first thanks to all answering the questions. We are in the process of completing the spouse in Canada forms again. In the meantime can we send in for the work permit even though the application is not completed yet?

I believe if u r applying inland then u can send ur work permit along with the pr application. U will have pay extra for work permit so when u are paying ur fees online select appropriate options.

Yes we did all of that but they sent the entire package back, so we were wondering the the work permit can go ahead separately while we complete the spousal form

No - it can't. Both applications must be submitted together.

Have been reading your answers to the questions posted on various threads and getting to know so much information Thanks a lot for helping everyone via Canada visa .
I really appreciate if you can answer my question.
My ICT WP application was submitted on Jan 4th and it was a paper based application. When we checked online the application got filed on Jan 24. Im done with Upfront Medical in the month of December and passed the medical. And the status of his something like this:
Reviewing your eligibility
No interview required
Fingerprints completed
Medical passed
Background check - Under processing.

It’s been almost more than 2 months the application still showing the same status.ie Background check under processing .

Also I would like to let you know that I’m an IT professional and applied under NOC 2173 from India. Prior traveling to Canada i lived in USA, UK and Australia .

My question is the background check processing time would be same for a PR application and WP application?

It’s been almost 13 weeks that my application reached IRCC and did not hear anything.

Also I have one more question - spouse’s application was not submitted along with my applicantion because after 2 days of medical IRCC sent a letter stating that spouse needs to undergo additional medical examination. Office immigration team told not to submit spouse’s application along with my application thinking that it could delay my application processing.

IRCC did not return the application package stating that it is incomplete but filed the application.

Spouse completed all the medical exams and the panel doctor confirmed everything is good after the repeat chest X-ray is completed . And it’s been almost more than a week the results are submitted, there is no update from IRCC

All this while we have been thinking that IRCC could be waiting for spouse’s medical results. If the results are approved then the main application will get the approval. But nothing updated.

Will IRCC ask to submit spouse’s application as well in order to approve the main application or the application can be submitted only after the approval of the main application.

Not able to understand if the delay is due to the background check or spouse’s application is missing even though medicals are approved.

Really appreciate if you can reply to my questions. TIA...

Your application processing times look normal as of now. It's not at all unusual for ICT applications to take a number of months to process. Same goes for the background checks. The background checks alone can easily take a few months - especially if you've lived in a number of different places. I don't think there's anything to be worried about from that perspective.

Thank you @scylla for your quick response to my questions.. really wanted to have some clarity on the background check processing for a PR and WP. Thought for ICT it would be quicker than PR application. Thank you for the clarification..
