Hello,

I'm on visitor visa since February 1, 2018 and my visa expires with my passport in August 31, 2019. I did 2 extension visa until now and they were positive. My last extension is until May 5, 2019. I'm planning to apply for study permit in April 2019, but before doing that I have to go back home to renew my passport with a new one.

1. I want to know if my visitor visa is still valid, even though it's in the old passport and not in the new one? So can I enter in Canada before my date of extension ( May 5, 2019), after I renew my passport?

Please give me any information about the above situation?

Your extension will lapse when you leave the country. To return, you must have a valid TRV. You can travel with both passports if you return on/before August 31

Also, you mean that if i leave Canada now, my extension (MAY 5) will lapse. So, in this way how I can come back in Canada when my extension is lapsed? Probably I need to do another extension until August 31, to be eligible to stay in Canada or I don't need to do the extension?

You must apply for another extension about 30 days before your current visitor status (visitor record) expires on May 5th.

You cannot continue to stay until August 31 without applying for an extension. That would be overstaying

Any extension you apply for will lapse as soon as you leave Canada,

You can re-enter anytime during the validity of your current TRV counterfoil stamped in your passport. This means you can travel to Canada on/before August 31 with both passports.

Whether or not you are allowed back into Canada and for how long will depend on the immigration officer at the POE based on a number of factors
