Guys, probably it is not important, don't know, but I wanted to share it with you:

I got an email from "donreply@cic.gc.ca" concerning my BOWP application which states that "There have been no updates to your application". I just found it strange!
Yeah it is an automated email. They send this to you exactly after one month of inaction. They will send again next month if they don't work on it.

@Mr_nobody, I received the response of the CSE which I raised a couple of days ago about the extension status of my medicals. They confirmed that my medicals have been extended, although they did not give me any new expiration date. This shows that extension of medicals does not necessarily occurs when medicals are expired and it can happen sooner. I should wait until I receive my COPR to realize that until when they have extended my medicals. @Mr_nobody ,Thanks for your help:)
No problem. I didn't do anything you were following them yourself :)

For me, it expires on end of May, and they didn't extend it. They gave my copr to end of May as well. Maybe, that is because I am inland, and they know I can do landing by then.

Also, check your account regularly. As soon as they issue your COPR, they post the info about the counterfoil in your account. There you can find when the expiry date of your COPR will be. It might save you a week or so,before you receive your passport

Question to @Mr_nobody- and @aasaf and all:)

I am in closed work permit that will be expired on 1 July 2019.

As I am PNP nominated, I need to get a letter of support from BC PNP in support of open work permit and this is prerequisite to file for BOWP, I asked the province for such letter and somehow they became uncooperative and saying it will take up to three months to give me such letter, so at best I will be able to file for BOWP last week of May which is one month before my work permit and temporary residence visa expiration date!

So assuming on this late filing, what will happen to my current work permit and residence while I am in PR process and have active file for BOWP?

Can I stay in country and continue working and maintain my MSP (medical service plan for BC) insurance while my work permits and temporary residence visa expired?

Any recommendation and advice is really appreciated.

chetori?

If you apply for BOWP before July 1, your status will be called "implied status" until they decide on your file. This way, you can stay in Canada and " you meet the conditions of your original work permit". So, you can continue working.

I'm not sure about MSP, as I live in Ontario; however, since it excilitly says that you meet the same conditions of your closed work permit, you shouldn't have any problem, I think.

@Mr_nobody or anyone here living in BC may want to correct me or add something.

@ms-nobody are you sure you need a supporting letter? I am not sure about pnp, but it is written in this link, you only need your nomination letter.
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/extend-permit/bridging-open-work-permit.html
I would say raise a CSE or call them and ask about it. Search on these forums as well and make sure you really need that letter.

As long as you apply for BOWP before July 1st, everything should be fine. Just email them and bug them otherwise they may forget about it completely.

As @aasaf said if you apply for BOWP before the expiry of your current WP, you can work until a decision made on either of your applications, under something called "implied status".
Your SIN number will also be valid until the decision on one of your applications.

For medical plans, however, I am not sure as each province has different rules. I know that Ontario sometimes does not give health card to people who are under implied status. I have had friends who bought private insurance. But, it seems that they also don't know the rules properly. I have seen on these forums that someone mentioned you have to apply for it and after they reject your application, you can request for a review or something like that. Then, you have to go and explain it to one of their seniors and they they will give you for one year.

If I find the link to that post, I will share it here.

Thanks for your detailed response @Mr_nobody , I am sure about letter of support from PNP, i came to know recently as I started the BOWP application that and this letter came as one of the required document to upload, hence I approached them in surprise in the middle of process and they are giving me the three months time frame, I already bugged them few times and lets see maybe they issue this sooner.

I will figure out the medical insurance extension and let the forum know.

Sorry @ms-nobody But something seems wrong. How much is the application fee? and what did you answer to the questions?
is there any spot to upload AOR and/or pnp nomination? As far as I know they only require these for BOWP. If they need more docs, I am sure they already have known about the law and would have given you the supporting letter before you ask. The reason is that pnp usually takes long and I am sure there are a lot of people who are in the same situation as you. if they want to be this lazy, they are gonna be overwhelmed with the number of requests people make.

I searched on these forums, but didn't find anything interesting. You can either call CIC or if you don't have time, raise a CSE and ask about it.

In regards to Implied status and people with BOWP who leaves in British Colombia,
As of July 1, 2017, BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) is no longer offering extension of coverage to foreign workers whose work permit has expired, even if they produce evidence of having “implied status” .
So anyone with such status need to obtain a private medical insurance, also if they lost their status in this process they will go under another three months wait to obtain a new MSP.

Hi Guys, It's been 10 days that my application got approved but no PPR yet. What can I do at this stage? Contacting IRCC Webform to know which office working on the application and send email to that office? Thanks in advance for the response.

Salam,

I agree it wouldn't hurt anything (The officer has done his job, now someone just need to send you the ppr and other paper work). Raise a CSE and send emails to Visa offices. They might have forgotten to send you ppr.
