Please
ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU PROCEED:
Application related factors:
- Is your application package organized and complete?
- Did you send proof of everything, with translations, all in good copies?
- Are you being completely honest with CIC?
- Do you really plan to live in the province that nominated you?
Every applicant should know this is the best you can do to speed up your processing time:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=021&top=4
For inland applicants (STEP-BY STEP AND EXPECTED PROCESSING TIMES):
If you said yes to all:
- your receipt letter (acknowledgment of receipt - AOR) will take about
2 months to come after the package arrived at the processing office (use the tracking code).
- Your medicals request (MR) will take about
9 months after the AOR.
- It takes about 1 month to update your profile after MR is received.
- *Background check* - After medicals are passed, it takes about
6 months to process your background.
- Final review - It may take about
1 month and passport request and return
1.5-2 months.
*This is the express entry processing time. EE takes ~6 months. The same time should be taken to process paper-based, but I believe they have more people working on EE.
Total average processing time:
2+9+1+6: 16 months
+ passport request and return take ~1.5 months = 17.5 months to get your PR.
This is the normal time. Don't freak out. If you got ADR, add
~2 months for each ADR (read below).
The background check is the bulk of the processing time and it includes your whole life. Let's talk about it next.
Hello everyone.
TommySan
I would like to start off by thanking you for the time and effort you had put into supplying information and responding to this forum. Your responses were of massive help to me.
I am here to share my PR experience so far.
- I met my spouse in a family shelter in December 31st 2016. Both of us were new to the country.
- My daughter was 2 years old at the time and she had three kids ages 5,7 & 8 years old.
- While we were in the shelter we had so much time to learn about each other. That is when I encouraged her to seek Protection as a refugee.
- I received a positive decision from on my Refugee Claim in May 21st 2017.
- We married on March 1st 2018
- We applied for PR on June 5th 2018
- She received a negative decision on her claim on June 10th 2018 and decided to appeal anyway.
- The marriage took an exhausting turn for the worst and I moved out of the house on 30th August 2018 to avoid further problems. She requested that I removed her and her three kids from the PR application and after doing some research I did so immediately to avoid misrepresentation.
- The second I stepped into my new apartment I contact IRCC with address, email and mobile number updates. I was being very safe not to leave anything out.
- In October 2018 I received some sort of request to submit a declaration stating that my spouse and her kids were no longer a part of the application. I submitted that immediately.
- On November 30th we changed our marital status to separated on the CRA website.
- On February 19th 2019 my PR application was updated and I got a message that I must submit MR for my daughter and I.
- On March 15th 2019 we were able to take the Medical exam but I still used a web form to inform them that it was sent and it may arrive late. I included the .pdf of our MR.
- I was worried they wouldn't receive my MR in time. On March 18th 2019 the status for our MR then said "Medical Report not received". I nearly died because the Panel Physician mentioned that it can take up to a week for them to receive it.
- I guess they got my web form with the medical pdf attached, either way the status was changed on March 27th and it read: "You do not need a medical exam. We will send you a message if this changes".
***** My question is, why did the status of my medical go to default as if they hadn't gotten around to send the request in the first place? Why didn't it just say you passed the medical or you failed?
So here I am now:
I never received and AOR. Only when I linked the application online in October, I saw the date it was received .
It took 9 months (from the time they received my application) for them to request an MR.
I just have my fingers crossed because I try my very best to have everything updated. I am the kind of person that avoids problems here in Canada because I have a young daughter and I also have and Application for PR pending. Never traveled outside of my home country beside the time I came to Canada and as a refugee claimant at the airport in September 2016.
I cant pinpoint anything that would be my fault that'll delay this process anymore.
***** Another question is, will the completion of my application be delayed anymore because of my spouse and her kids being removed?
Thanks in advance for any responses!
