I suppose you must have gotten an answer to this. You just need to follow the instructions of the medical surveillance I.e. calling the office within 7 or 30 days of arrival (as the case may be) and then reporting for the follow up visit with the doctor who will then decide next steps. It has no effect on your immigration status however.
Hi,

I have a question related to same topic. Can you please advise?

There is a note saying "32: Must report for medical examination, surveillance or treatment and at specified times and places provide proof of compliance".

I have few of questions

1) Do i need to do this medicals within 30 days of landing or can i do it next year as well when i permanently settle?

2) If this needs to be done immediately after landing approx how many days would it take and what is the process of doing it? Is there any phone number or offices i can contact to take upfront appointments.
I am planning to go only for a week to Toronto.

3) How does the medical surveillance process affect the PR process. If for some reason i am unable to complete this process and leave Canada, how does this affect PR?

Any guidance on these things is much appreciated !!

Just make sure you call the appropriate number within the time stated (I.e. 7/30 days) and then let them know that you will be leaving the country, they’ll be able to advise you better based on the particular situation...but I for instance am waiting for my health card to be ready (in 3 months) before I go to see the doctor as advised by the TB nurse so I don’t have to pay out of pocket. So she’ll also be able to provide better advice about your situation.

So our case is

My parents they are already in Canada on visitor visa since December 2017 and also their permanent residency application is in process.

Now the question I was wondering is why we got the medical surveillance notice now as permanent residency application is not finalized yet and parents already here since May 2016 and left Canada to go back home for 4 months only.

I called doctor office for surveillance and they told me to wait for call from them so we are waiting

Thank you for replying

Hello everyone,

I received my medical surveillance letter last Tuesday but have not received a ppr till now..
Has anyone else faced the same situation?
How much more time will it take for me to get a ppr?

I did manage to fulfil the requirement of medical surveillance within the first week of landing. As I was staying in Mississauga, I phoned up Peel Health Region and spoke with the TB nurse. I told her that I am only there for a week. She did my assessment over the phone and asked me to either fax or email the medical surveillance undertaking form (which you will receive from the immigration officer), so that they can set me up on the system. The nurse advised that I can print the doctor reporting form for inactive TB online (rather than waiting for it in the post or via email), which I will need to take it to the doctor.

The next step was to visit the doctor. So we did go to the multi speciality walk in clinic at Queensway in Mississauga. Since it is a walk in clinic, you don’t need an appointment. They asked me to come between 9am and 3pm to see the physician and a specialist. It costed me $198.00. Specialist referred me for the X-ray which was done the same day at the same clinic. I paid about $40 for the X-ray. The reports was available within 2 working days. Based on the report and my medical history, doctor filled up the form and everything was faxed to the peel health centre (number was available on the form). I phone the TB nurse again to confirm if they have received the form and my x-ray report from the doctor. She confirmed that they have received all and will update the immigration office.

I would recommend that you take all your medical records related to your TB treatment with yourself to the doctor. My records were well kept and it helped the doctor to see what treatment I had received.

Hope this information helps.
Who will decide where clinic you will be going for check-up? Is it your choice or is it the clinic that was told by the public health authority?
