In some provinces, waiting period for goverment health insurance is up to three months. I recommend to purchase a private health insurance for him for the waiting period if you have not done yet!
Check with your provincial health authority because in Alberta the 3 month wait period apply only to those moving from another province. If one is moving to Alberta from outside Canada (new immigrants) then they will be eligible for coverage from the date they establish residency in Alberta.

You can apply for PCC either at BLS center or directly at CGI Toronto. CGI can process your PCC request within a day or two whereas BLS can take up to 30 days. However, CGI charges extra money for faster processing. So the choice is yours.

If your parents are in Canada for six months or more then you need to get PCC else you are not required to submit that.

Hi All, sending a very informative document for seniors in Ontario, sorry this is only Ontario but assuming all provinces have something like this. Since we're all calling our parents this should be a good read. Apologies in advance for sending this if it's something you all have already seen. Will be most helpful to understand health and drug coverage benefits.

Hi, I know these questions has been asked already few times, My parents have received the request to submit the PCCs. in the email it says;

q A new police clearance certificate for time spent in any country for a period of 6 months or more, for you and for all accompanying dependants over the age of 18, if the prior certificates on file are greater than 12 months old. For information on how to apply for a police certificate, see our website: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/index.asp

My parents have spend more than 6 months in Canada in last couple of years, right now they are in India.

1. Do they need to provide the PCC for Canada or just India?
2. I cant see the option of uploading these documents online, does that mean the only option is to send by mail?
3. They were also asked to complete the additional travel information form; do I need to separate the time they have spend in different cities in Canada, or I can combine it all in one for each country (they have only traveled to Canada)? And also what to be filled in the purpose of travel column- tourism or visiting family?

Will appreciate your responses.

Thanks,

My GCKey today changed the status to "Application/Profile Updated"

And after clicking into it, the 2nd row changes to "Review of medical results We are reviewing the results of your medical exam."

But I haven't received any file/email, not even SA.

Hi All,

I have a question from "Document Checklist" specifically for -

"Proof of principal applicant's relationship to sponsor Document"

Neither the sponsor (Me) nor the principal applicant (My Father) have Birth certificates available.

What other document can be used to prove the relationship? (My passport clearly states my name and my father's name) Can that be used?

I would really appreciate if someone could guide me.

Thanks in advance!

I was following the forum for last few days and today was checking the spreadsheet. What I found out, almost everyone of 2nd round whose application was received by August have got DM for Sponsor and some of them have already got medical Request. I am the only unlucky one who has no update. I am feared and nervous too. Still they are showing that they have requested for additional document on Jan 08 and nothing yet an d 'In process" for both Sponsor and Applicant.
if I call the call center, do you think they would have more details about what's going on? Or any other suggestion?
