BGC started sounds really cool!!Just checked ECAS as my husband (sponsor) and it says decision made I assume that means SA. Also when I log in to GCKey it now says we are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements instead of we havent started reviewing your eligability or whatever the previous message was. Still not requested Biometrics or medical yet though but I am expecting them now.
Timeline is as below:
Application received in Nova Scotia: Dec 10th
AOR: Feb 7th
Background check started: Feb 7th
SA: Feb 17th
Exciting times!
Congratulations! Please update your stats here,Hi, this my timeline
Sponsor is in Montreal
Principal Applicant is in China
Application Received : December 20, 2018.
Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR): February 15, 2019.
Good luck for everyone!
Usually a background check is one of the latest steps, even though some people are reporting totally opposite cases here But I would consider those cases more as an exception. First your application will be transferred to a VO overseas, then will go your eligibility check, and only then a background check. It may start not earlier than a few months from now. So, don't worry about itHi!
How will you know if the background check for the PA has started? Didn’t hear anything from IRCC After the SA last week.
If you are not representative, you are not going to be able to get emails from IRCC nor can you link your application.A question to sponsors who linked an application to sponsor's GCKey and who are NOT representatives of their PAs.
I read in this thread that it actually does not matter to whose account you're linking your application, sponsor's or PA's. So I apologize for bringing this question up again. But I'm still very confused... Are you guys sure it does not matter whose account it is?
Because as IRCC states in their complete guide:
So when you do link your application, all correspondence will go there, and email notifications about new messages in that account will go to an email of the owner of that account. That means after linking an application to sponsor's account a PA will not be getting any emails/notifications about new messages. Is it ok and not an issue? I mean for our particular case it would be much easier if all the correspondence would go to sponsor's email even though we didn't assign representatives. But considering everything that I just said, I can't get rid of that confusion...
- E-Mail: If you or your representative provide us with an e-mail address when you apply, this will be our primary means of contacting you, unless your application is linked to an online account.
You will receive message from IRCC that they start background check on the applicant. But since your GCKey account already indicates BGC in progress, I am not sure what I said is accurate. However, I still believe MR should happen before BGC, and then potentially interview and the last step would be BGC.Hi!

Thanks Mary5! I have both... maybe my new AOR is AOR 2.. Or maybe it is due to one more mistake with my application
In both the sender is the same

Hi @svilli , I just stumbled upon this text:2 Feb - AOR 1 "... confirms that your application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class has been received by CIC..."
5 Feb - cancelled
6 Feb - requeut to pay biometrics for old app number
12 Feb - request to pay biometrics for new app number
13 Feb morning - SA with new application number
13 Feb evening - AOR for "This confirms that your application for permanent residence in Canada has been received by IRCC "
I'm a Sponsor, representing PA.. Got all communication by mails, except cancellation
There is discrepancy between what IRCC describes and what we experience. According to the reports for all December applicants, all of us got AOR1 first and then SA. @sivili got two because there was an administrative mistake from IRCC that her application was cancelled and IRCC assigned a new application number for her so she got another AOR after cancellation and reassignment of application number.Hi @svilli , I just stumbled upon this text:
Applicants (person being sponsored)
Once your sponsor is found to be eligible, we’ll send you (or your authorized representative, if you have one) an acknowledgement of receipt (AOR) letter with your application number on it. If you provided an e-mail address on your application, this letter will be sent to that e-mail address.
You can find it here https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides/guide-5289-sponsor-your-spouse-common-law-partner-conjugal-partner-dependent-child-complete-guide.html#after
As I can see from your message above, you got your AOR for "This confirms that your application for permanent residence in Canada has been received by IRCC" right after SA, so it's that one. I think it's not AOR2, but there are just two types of AOR1: one is for sponsor, and another one is for PA after SA. But you're getting both since you're a representative of your PA
I've read this thread from the very first post, so I'm aware what people say here. @svilli got two different AORs. The first one was for a sponsor, as everyone else here got the same. But the second one had different wordings, and it was clear it was for a PA. And she got the second AOR the same day as was her SA. That exactly aligns with what IRCC said (see the quotation I provided above)There is discrepancy between what IRCC describe and what we experience. Speaking from experience as one of the people who connected it to my account (the sponsor): yes, all the emails come only to me and not my husband (PA), even though I never filled out the representative form. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but there you have it.A question to sponsors who linked an application to sponsor's GCKey and who are NOT representatives of their PAs.

Thanks a lot! Yeah, you're just right about being organized and obsessive Ok, when our time to link an application comes, we for sure will try to link it to sponsor's account, as it makes things much easier (to control )Speaking from experience as one of the people who connected it to my account (the sponsor): yes, all the emails come only to me and not my husband (PA), even though I never filled out the representative form. I appreciate how neurotic this process makes us all, but I think in this instance you're just overthinking it. I honestly don't think the IRCC is concerned with whose email/account/address/whatever is ultimately connected to the application, as long as the messages get to the PA in the end. The biometric request and letter came through just fine for us, and those were (obviously) intended only for the PA.
If your situation is like mine where the sponsor is the organized (and okay, obsessive) person keeping track of things, I would encourage you to go ahead and link it to their account.
The second AOR is mainly different from the first one with the application number. IRCC had to send out a new AOR because application number is different and she cannot use the application number from her first AOR.I've read this thread from the very first post, so I'm aware what people say here. @svilli got two different AORs.
