same situation here...
Agreed, which means @dorkismalorkis's status actually makes perfect sense. No idea why mine and others' randomly says "we are processing your background check" from the very beginning...! o_O:rolleyes: Once meds are over I will quit even attempting to make sense of it!
it depends on when you linked the application . sometimes if the application get transferred get background check done and then Med request.

I posted earlier in this thread (I think?) about how spotty AOR2 seems to be -- some people get it, some people don't. My assumption was that if you do get it from the VO, it's a confirmation of when they receive it, but not when they start processing it (that would be indicated in ECAS maybe though). But that is really just a guess on my part! In general it seems like once your meds are over the rest of the steps (aka the ones that take place at the NDVO) are very unpredictable and you'll likely be dealing with inscrutable silence for months and months, unlike this sorta fast and furious early period, which is so much more satisfying.

I do find GCKey completely mystifying -- as I've mentioned before, from the moment ours went live (which was the same day as AOR1), it has said "We are processing your background check." Obviously the file isn't actually with the VO at that point, so I had assumed it just automatically switches to that for everyone once they start entering it into the system. But if I'm reading correctly, yours actually doesn't say that? Where's the hands thrown up emoji? I think I give up! :confused:o_O:p

[EDIT: Sorry! I just noticed you had already responded to my earlier post! Forgetting the process a little, if possible, seems to be the right approach for sure! :)]
hey does your background says that your background is in progress or that your application is in progress? thank you.

You're right, those two can overlap; there doesn't seem to be a strict order there.

Still, my main point is that GCKey said the background check was already in process from the moment we got AOR1. There is no way it was already transferred then, so the statuses in GCKey are unreliable at best. I mean hey, if I'm wrong and it magically was sent to Vienna in record time, I'll gladly take it, but somehow I doubt that. ;)

Are you asking about GCKey or ECAS?

In GCKey only it says "We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information."

ECAS, however, does not yet state "We started processing your application" -- which is why I assume the GCKey status is effectively meaningless.

I was asking about gckey. Im wondering why it would say were processing your background check before medicals, because its usually the last step. I hope its for good tho.

So, if I apply for my spouse work permit with her application and she leaves the country and comes back and she is from a visa exempt country, will her application still be valid even if its not processed? Inland application

Ha! We tried to get my husband (PA) to visit on a visitor visa after our wedding in Costa Rica. We have a 3 year history prior to our wedding.

The Canadian Gov't denied his visitor visa, stating due to our marriage and the seriousness of our relationship they weren't sure he'd return after a visit (even tho we promised proof of return ticket and everything) - funny thing is, we certainly do not want to spend ANY chilly months in Canada. There is no way we'd overstay... but gov't do not consider this.

We dropped the issue of even traveling to Canada as it was not urgent to us... UNTIL...
I found out I was expecting it became clear we had to get a jump on the Sponsorship process. Someone in another thread said some ignorant thing about 'why didn't you do family planning' ... well, doctors told my husband he could never have children and HE explained this to me before we got married - didn't expect to find ourselves in an urgent travel situation. We are awaiting VO AOR2 and medical now. It's not looking like he'll make it in time for baby but God Willing, maybe. At the very least he will be able to meet my family members who are too old/frail to travel. Good luck to all of you!

I'll be thinking of you! I hope this happens quickly and that you are feeling well with the baby. Sending you hugs!

I have the same statuses as @schweisy.
And was very "pleased" already by IRCC to be chosen as special case with cancellation:Do_O
So now medicals and passport request first and never mind which status is in asynchronized systems:D
Maybe we just got the same newbie CPC-Sydney officer, who doesn't totally understand how the system works yet :p

We are all outland applicants (so our spouses are not eligible for OWP), so I'm not sure you will get any good advice on this situation on this thread. I would suggest asking your question on a thread for inland applicants instead to get the best answer.

Hi Everyone!

Happy to say that we received AOR today. My husband (PA) is from the United States and I (Sponsor) am from Canada.

Application Received: December 17th, 2018
AOR: February 16th, 2019
Application linked on GCkey: February 16th, 2019

Also, I was able to sign into ECAS and it says that our application started processing yesterday, February 15th, 2019. Not sure if AOR is considered that day or the day I technically received the email, which is today, the 16th. Still waiting on SA approval. By the way, I've put our timeline details in the excel sheet already.

What are the timelines looking like for SA approval, medical, etc?

Wishing everyone luck during this process and that everything goes smoothly!

Thanks,

Caroline

yes, but there is one risk. If she were refused to enter by CBSA at the border, your application would be automatically withdrawn. That is why IRCC highly recommends that the applicant should stay in Canada while the application is in process.
