1. Yes. The PR is a mere proof of PR. As longas he can demonstrate that he has a job, is financially sufficient, and has been in Canada for the last few years, there should be no problem. Along with the COPR, he should also include his bank account statements, letter from the employer, lease document, driver's license and any other documents documenting his ties to Canada.@legalfalcon
We need your kind help in the following matter.
Our son is in canada. He first became a permanent resident through skilled category in 2009 and was in the home country outside canada from 2010 to 2017.
Since he already had a PR Status in canada, in the mid of year 2017, he got PRTD Category R-1 (H&C grounds) explaining all his circumstances under which he could not have gone back to canada all this time.
So after getting his PRTD, he immediately went back to canada to settle there permanently and is there since then.
There, he was advised by an attorney to not to apply for PR card renewal before completing his residency obligation of 2 years continuous stay in the last 5 years. So he did not apply for renewal. He is well employed there and has all the necessary documents there.
We both parents wish to visit him on family visit visa for 2 months as we have not met him in this one and a half year period. My wifeʼs visit visa was rejected twice in 2009 due to insufficient documents, funds at the time when our son was to go to canada first time in 2009 to settle there. permanently. She wanted to accompany our son
My questions are:-
- Can he invite parents for family visit visa on the strength of COPR and expired PR card.
- In our application for visit visa in the title “purpose of visit” should we make “his inability to visit us due to absence of a valid PR card and not having met the residency obligation so far” a purpose of our visit.
- Or should we keep our purpose of visit in the covering letter as simple as “to meet the family there” and avoid mentioning full immigration details.Does it matter in any way in our case?
We shall be extremely thankful, if you can advise us on this issue.
2. No, simply mention that you want to visit your child. Also get a letter of invitation from your son.
3. see above. Keep it simple, and do not complicate your case. Also, your son is eligible for a PR card. A PRTD was issued to him because he is a PR.
