Refused visitor extension

A few questions for anyone willing to help.

First of all, they did not say what the reason was for the refusal. Can I find out the reason so I can rectify the situation?

Secondly, if I do have to go back to my country, how long would I have to wait before returning?
I have already been given one visitor extension and have been in this country for about 10 months.
I know there is no absolute answer on when I can try returning, but what is a reasonable amount of time to wait before trying again if I have been here this long?

Is it possible for me to re-apply for another extension or is it more than likely going to be another refusal?

I am actually trying to get permanent to this country and I was hoping to start my applications with this second extension, however that obviously did not work out.
I will return to my own country and start the paper work from there but would sure appreciate any advice or help on the above answers.

By the way I am from U.K trying to get another visitor extension for Canada.

  1. CAIPS notes might have the information, but not sure.
  2. Recommended you stay out of Canada for as long as you have been here, so 10 months. Wouldn’t even try before 6 months as a minimum.
  3. You’ve been refused. You need to leave (soon) as you no longer have status. Reapplying is pointless and a waste of time and resources as they haven’t accepted your extension already. For anything other than family class, you need valid status in Canada to apply.

You can order your GCMS notes to see the detailed notes for your case.

Generally speaking, you should be spending more time outside of Canada than inside of Canada in any given year. If your visit was 10 months, I would recommend that you remain outside of Canada for a minimum of six months before returning (longer would be of course better).

I would not recommend applying for another extension. You've already been refused and that's a pretty clear indication that IRCC says you should be leaving the country.

How are you "trying to get permanent"?

My visitor visa doesn't end till the end of April. Do I have to leave before then with this refusal?

I was going to start my express entry if I got this second extension. I was going to do the paperwork here in Canada.

No, you don't need to leave before then.

When you say that your visitor visa doesn't end until April, what do you mean by that? Do you mean that when you applied for your first extension, you were approved for a stay until April 2019? Or do you mean something else?

Yes. When I applied for the 1st extension they gave me the date of the end of April for how long I was allowed to stay till.

What are my chances for re-applying for this second extension and being successful? Can I re-apply again right away?

A couple of other questions too.
If I re-apply and am rejected again, will this hurt my chances of getting back into the country and could there be dire consequences, such as a ban or refused entry for x amount of years?

Also, if I eventually want to apply to live here permanently is express entry the only way to go about it? I have no idea about these forms and no one to ask that knows anything. I am a carpenter by trade (not married) and have worked most of my life.
I would be moving on my own and not bringing any family.
I'm not gonna lie, I have no clue as to what I am doing when it comes to applying to stay permanently or even to extend stay and the rules, etc.

Why are you applying for an extension so early if you are allowed to stay until April 2019? That really makes no sense at all and is likely part of the reason (if not the whole reason) why you were refused. You shouldn't be applying for an extension until a month or less before the expiry of your stay.

I was told to apply this early being as it takes up to 3-4 months for the application to be processed. That being said, I was told to allow myself enough time for the application to be processed before my visitors visa ran out.

I am wanting to stay on holidays as long as I can as this is the first time I have actually allowed myself to travel. I have worked all my life with no breaks.

Canada has a number of different immigration programs each with its own rules and requirements. There's really no short cut to spending extensive time researching these programs to understand what the requirements are and if you qualify (apart from hiring a lawyer to do this work for you). If you are a carpenter, then you should start by looking at the Federal Skilled Trades program through Express Entry. One of the Provincial Nomination Programs might work as well. Again, you'll have to do extensive research.

A refused visitor extension won't have any impact on a PR application in the future provided you declare all refusals in your PR application. Of course it goes without saying that while you are here as a visitor, you absolutely cannot be doing any work of any kind (even unpaid). Working illegally (with or without pay) can jeopardize / significantly complicate coming back in the future.

You were given bad advice. You should apply close to the expiry of your allowed visit. Once you apply, you have implied status and can remain in Canada until a decision is made in the application. If you want to reapply - do not do it now. You'll get refused again if you apply this early. Wait until your a couple of weeks away from the expiry date.

No, no plans of working at all right now. I am on holidays..end of.

I am leaving the door open to moving to this beautiful country but am not 100% sure. I would like to visit longer though.
