My post graduate work permit expire on April, do i still have time? or i need to start extending my work permit?
Same thing here. End or beginning of April 30th? I'll suppose end of April.
There is a DM rain predicted to March 3rd-5th. So here is my suggestion (I'm no specialist, so pardon if I missed something):
If your country has eTAs.
- If you get the DM and your country has eTA: wait until April, when you will likely get the PPR, send the PPR docs ASAP (copies of passport pages) when you get the golden mail, then apply online for an extension to remain legal with implied status just in case. The COPR arrives and you do the landing with implied status, or luckily before the current one expires. Later, you cancel the PGWP application to get refunded, because it was not processed.
No eTA:
---- Alternatively, if $$$ is no issue, if your country has no eTA and you got the DM, go to a border to apply for a PGWP extension in person. Tell them you got the DM and you need to extend your legal status to do the landing. You may wait for the PPR for this. This is because for the PPR, citizens from countries without eTA have to send them the physical passport, and you can't land without the it. So you are doing it to have a status, not an implied status, when you land.
----- If you country has no eTA, you can also wait to do a late application for the PGWP online. You send your passport, and your COPR comes back before the PGWP starts being processed. Then you land after your passport came back. You will land with implied status. Then you cancel the PGWP application.
To land with implied status, make sure you bring proof of the application in-progress for the landing.
