Hi. Will make it quick and easy to read:
  • Does working as a full-time for over a year but as a sub-contractor with a company (they gave me T4A) count for CEC or you must be on the payroll in order to be eligible?
  • Regarding the "within 3 years" , I worked there 3 years and 4 months ago. Would that be an issue?
Thank You !

Thanks PMM. Any chance that I can combine other work experiences I had before and become eligible for FSW?

They will add up to 2 years of work in Canada. They were obtained during my undergraduate studies when I was on study permit . I was on payroll and but they were NOC A and NOC B jobs.

Thanks again.

You cannot count any work experience gained while on a study permit in Canada.

To count for Canadian Experience Class, you must have a full year of employment within the past 3 years.

T4A means you were considered self-employed, and you cannot count self-employed experience in Canada. Even older experience (past 10 years) can count for points if you are eligible under the FSW program, however, it is still not eligible because it was self-employment.

Ok thank you . Very few options left.... 10 years in Canada and $121,000 international tuition and leave with nothing! Unjust Law.

What other options have you explored? Have you done the eligibility assessment? Have you looked at PNP programs? etc...

I'm currently doing my Masters in Electrical and Computer Engineering in Montreal (almost done). The only option that I am aware of is the PEQ program. I'm taking French, possibly will pass the exam and get the CSQ. But it's taking up to 24 months for the PR to come after CSQ and I don't get another PGWP. Honestly the fact the I have to wait another 2 years on a tourist visa waiting for the PR is annoying.

And applying for LMIA , despite the advanced degrees I've got, won't be helpful (according to people I asked) since there is no work experience so it's hard to convince the officer to grant it.

If there are any other programs you can think of or recommend I would greatly appreciate it. At this point I'll be willing to relocated to any province.

Thanks again !
