Dear All
I have applied for EE - 2 Aug 2018
got "Ready for Visa" Email from CPCO-FinalRequest - 7 Jan 2019

I got married on 2nd Jan 2019 and notified CIC about the change.
I got a reply on 17th Jan 2019 with following Message plus a list of documents to add for my wife
"
Our records indicate that you notified us of this change after we had issued you a Confirmation of
Permanent Residence for you and your dependents, if you have any. Please understand that we will
require that you return this document as well as your passport(s) with your permanent resident visa(s), if
applicable, in order for us to cancel them. You must provide us with these original documents in addition
to the other requested documents for us to continue with your application process.
"

I am trying to understand once I submit the new documents for my wife the PR Application process will begin for her. so what about my COPR
1) would that get canceled and issue a new one with my wife?
2) Would I get the PR and subsequently she will receive the same?
3) How much longer the process may take for both our PRs

* I am currently on a work permit and my wife is in India.*
Your responses will be highly appreciated

thanks

If you have already received your COPR, you'll need to send it back. It will be cancelled.
Your wife will be added to the application and processed accordingly. You both will be issued new COPRs if a positive decision is eventually made on your application.
It could take a few months.

I didn't have any document for COPR
just an email from CPCO-FinalRequest "Ready for Visa" . which was the request of PP

Hi there!

Can you please tell me how the process ended for you in this situation?

I'm in the exact same position right now. My partner was declared as non-accompanying during the whole PR application which I filed in Oct 2019.

We got married this year on the 8th of January, and on the 13th I received the PPR email.

I've sent yesterday the exact same list of documents that you had to send as well.

I received my physical CoPR as well. But I'll probably be requested to send it back to my VAC centre.

Did they ask for WES studies equivalence and IELTS for your spouse?

I'd greatly appreciate any thoughts/ideas here for applicants who have gone through this situation.

Cheers all

@legalfalcon can you please share your thoughts about my situation? Would highly appreciate that :)
I'm wondering how long can this take until we both receive CoPRs. Especially since she has been part of my application since day 1, and they already checked everything about her. We got medicals valid till the end of November this year.

It is difficult to predict. However, if your meds have been extended or passed, it is just a matter of time.

Thanks for your reply!

What about the current CoPR I've got sitting on my desk? Is it still valid or do they need to emit a new one? (basically, they only have to change my marital status and my wife's new name, as she took my last name - so it's just a difference of 3 words).
I'm asking cause I don't know if I should fly with this CoPR to Canada and finalize the process, or I should wait.

I sent 2 web forms to IRCC as well over the last month, but unfortunately, I'm yet to receive an answer.

Your input is always highly appreciated! thanks in advance :)

The name change is not an issue in the world, except in the Indian subcontinent and some other parts where females are mandated to adopt the husband's last name. If you want that to be reflected on the COPRs, the current cOPR will have to be cancelled and new one issued. You can't travel with different names on your passport and COPR.

My wife is in similar situation but she is inland and just got the first portal email. We just got married and I am a Canadian permanent resident. My wife replied to provided the requested information and also mentioned about the new marital status. We're worrying if this is too late to update her application
