We are American. :) Native speakers all my life, and unlike most here, it's the only language I speak. :( I got all 9's though. She got three 9's and one 8.

Edit: I should say, I didn't just show up at IELTS unprepared. I prepared for 2 months with various IELTS books and online audio. I wrote exactly the way the IELTS wants you to write. Beginning paragraph, paragraphs to support, conclusion, etc. I learned how they want you to write and I wrote that way.

I studied lists of speaking topics that were asked most recently from online blogs that cover IELTS so I could have an idea in my head of my general answer, that way I would have more time to write notes about points I wanted to talk about extemporaneously.

The listening and reading were easiest, as a native speaker. However, all my prep work had audio that was wayyyyyyyyyyyy slower. I was shocked when the audio was about twice as fast as what I prepared with, but I had no issues understanding.

Reading was super easy. I finished and went to the bathroom with someone who accompanied me, and came back and still sat around doing nothing staring at the clock.
Lol the reading part.

I found speaking and reading the easiest and am not a native speaker. I kind of understood you are natives because of your scores, but even for the natives, it is a struggle to score 9 in writing. Your preparation explains it.

All the best

Hi,
My Medical was on 4th Dec and AOR on 13th Dec. Still awaiting update.
How much time does it usually take to get any update?
My AOR on 8th December with upfront medical but still no response. I am inland applicant.

Dec 1 AORs started yesterday and today. If IRCC doesn't slow down or speed up, you can expect yours on Jan 17-18.

Haha, as an English speaker, born in England and an "English with creative writing degree" holder, I didn't score 9 in the writing =P "learning to write the answers the way they want you to" makes a huge difference as it's so subjective outside of this (hence the lenience in score vs listening and reading which are right or wrong answer wise). I considered contesting it but I just wanted to get my submission into the EE pool as I turn 31 next month

Tell me about it. See my age... and this month I will be adding 1 to that. My wife is 2 years younger, so our CRS would be higher there if we chose to do it that way, but accounts for POF are in my name so we would have issues there.

I drove from Texas to Oklahoma for IELTS, so I didn't want to have to do it twice. Oklahoma City was less booked up than Dallas, so I was able to schedule it sooner.

Again, congrats, did you get any msg about biometrics?
You won't get biometrics request if you weren't already required to prior to Dec 31. The AOR locked in that date.

Yes, it became effective for Asia, Asia Pacific, and the Americas on December 31. If you didn't weren't asked to pay it when you did AOR, I don't think a request will be coming. Those who AOR in January or later will all have to do biometrics, if they are outland). Inland applications aren't able to do biometrics yet, so that will not be required until Service Canada (or whever) can accept them.
