Hello everyone,, my question is not related to OCI but i am pretty sure some of you might have the answer for it,, I received my Oath ceremony date on 22nd January 2019,, and I will have to go to India before 2nd week of February 2019,, so definitely I am not going to apply for OCI,, one of my friends suggested me to apply for evisa for India,, but I heard that it’s only valid for 1 month,, is it possible to extend evisa?,, or is there any other alternative than evisa

eVisa is for 2 months, or 60 days specifically. Its not possible to extend. If you had scrolled to last page, you would have seen the link I shared -

Thank you very much, it’s really helpful,, so when I get Canadian passport, I will apply for e visa,, and is it ok to surrender my indian passport when I come back? (My trip for india is for 40 days),, is there any timeline to surrender indian passport?

Dont use it anywhere, keep it in a safe. You have 3 years to surrender.

How long does it usually take to get acknowledgment for OCI?

I submitted my documents on 28th December. Will I get an email for acknowledgment?

BLS Status says its processing at Consulate General but I am not able to check status on OCI website? Will my File reference number for checking status on OCI website come in the email or is it the OCIXXXXXXX number on my BLS receipt?
