Hello guys i hv an question when u apply for PR and OWP together did they send you different AOR for both or it’s the same the reason i am asking that because I choose a representative for my file so they email me the AOR for PR only and i am curious what’s going on with my OWP i am so tensed any advise or suggestion will be great
Thank you
eCAS instruction says: You may use this service if you have
  • sponsored a member of the family class;
  • applied for permanent residence from within or outside Canada;
  • applied for a permanent resident card;
  • applied for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship);
  • applied for Canadian citizenship for a person adopted by a Canadian citizen;
  • applied for a citizenship certificate (proof of Canadian citizenship);
  • applied to renounce Canadian citizenship; or
  • applied to resume Canadian citizenship.
So for us, eCAS is for PR application status checks only, not for OWP. The only time you may or may not get an email notification is when you get a status update if you linked your OWP application online on your MyCIC account. Some applicants don't even link theirs and fly blind until they receive the physical permit in the mail.

Some day soon you will find me in a psychiatric hospital, in solitary confinement, etching these words in to the walls with my finger nails:

"Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start reviewing your eligibility"

Can anybody tell that I'm getting impatient? o_O:D

I’m starting to get a bit nervous. I sent in my OWP with the PR app along with receipts for both. BUT my receipt for the OWP is only $155. I have read it was supposed to have been $255..? Ugh....do you think the’ll Return to me or just ask for the difference? I’ve looked again at payment for OWP and I’m not seeing WHY it should be $255. Any insight would be appreciated! TIA!

I don't remember why it was $255 but that's what my receipt says. From a quick search, I think it is a $100 fee to have your work permit be ''open" and $155 to apply for a work permit alone

I sure hope I don’t have to start my timeline for OWP all over again over a $100

Yeah, it has to be $255 as @LinkinMark said. Whether to return your application or not is up to the corresponding officer's discretion. I've seen some cases that CIC returned both PR and OWP applications just because of it, but since you got your AOR already, you don't need to worry about your PR application - it won't be returned; however, your OWP might.

If the agent is nice enough, he or she might request the missing portion through MyCIC or by mail. Perhaps, it would be a better solution to pay it right now and submit the receipt through Webform and hope it gets forwarded to the officer on time.

Here is the link to pay the missing $100, 3rd option in the Work Permit section: https://eservices.cic.gc.ca/epay/order.do?category=17

After you get the receipt, attach and send it through Webform: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/web-form.asp?

Hope you are not out of status... then it would be a whole different story.

Oh my! Now I'm really freaking out! I can't imagine I have anything other than implied status right now. I have just paid the extra $100 - looking to upload the form now. Thank you so much for the information. keep your fingers crossed for me!!

Hopefully they don't return your OWP application; otherwise, your implied status will be annulled and you will be out of status until you get your PR.

On a positive note, CIC sometimes takes the missing portion of the OWP fee out of your $1040 PR application payment and request the balance later down the process just before your Landing Interview.

Either way, paying for it now was a good call!

I feel like OWP issuance has ground to a halt :(
