Hi All,

I just got my PPR email this morning and I’m in a pickle! So, here’s the thing. I’m CEC Inland applicant, in Toronto. I have a WP expiring in 2020. I had to travel India for holidays and would be flying on December 8th.
If I send my document with everything by tomorrow morning(Tuesday), can I expected it back from CIC, before my flight, considering the Canada post strike?
Anyone who’s submitted in recent times?

Regards
I'm assuming you have about 30 days to submit your passport? If you are only in India for a short time, you could use a courier service when you get back (like FedEx) to send it to CIC. I would avoid using Canada Post at all costs, cause the delivery time is so unpredictable

I would have done it too. But they haven’t left an option for me.
The email states;
If you have a mailing address in Canada:

- The pre-paid Xpresspost envelope must be from Canada Post. Please note that we will not return documents to a Canadian address via any other courier.

- Submit all documents by mail in a single package and send to the following address:

CPC – Ottawa – PR

PO Box 8781

Ottawa, ON K1G 4B9

I saw one post, the strike might end today. If that happens that would be the best. Otherwise, I’m in India for 3 weeks. If they give that option, I’ll do it in VFS office there.

Congratulations @myra20sharma :)

its abit risky to send your passport with Canada post until the strike officially stops. Otherwise, you face the risk of ur passport being delayed or even lost.

I'd say to be on the safe side you should request from cic to give you the extra 30day extension. They would def give it to u especially since u'v already booked your ticket.

Anyone with similar timeline ?
Yes except second Ghost update was Nov 6. Since then no update on my file. I can not say if the second update was because I updated my address or if PPR is close:(

A second ghost update is usually a good sign - you should try ring CIC around 10 - 11am EST. Use 3-4-1-0 to go directly to the queue. I've always managed to get through to someone, they may be able to tell you if a decision has been made

I have been hearing about the ghost update. But never understood it .
Can someone explain what is ghost update.
basically whenever somebody opens your file, online on website it says that your profile has been updated. When you check it, nothing has been updated. So basically nothing has updated online, but cic will say it was updated just because someone opened your file. Now people have seen to get PPR request after getting a ghost update. It is not always true, but i think for majority cases if you get a ghost update after IP2 stage, you will get a PPR in next few days

Before medical status updated, what was your background check status?

Nobody knows for sure, it depends on the complexity of your case, dependents, travel history, security checks, the visa office where your file is being processed, CIC workload etc... Based on MyImmiTracker, the average PPR time would be around 120 days from your AOR. If you havrn't had an update after 6 months, order GCMS notes for a detailed explanation. Good Luck!
