Hi,

I have an LMIA-exempt work permit (as a visiting research scholar) under C44 (Post-doctoral fellows awarded a Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and research award recipients), with an award paid by a foreign institution. My work permit is under NOC4011. The Canadian University issued an employment offer for me, but I am not paid by the university since my work is paid by a foreign award.
I completed a year at the position and got an ITA with this experience stated on my Express Entry application.

Does my experience as a visiting research scholar with a work permit under C44 (without a payment from the university itself but a foreign award) count as a Canadian Work Experience for my CEC application?

Thank you for your interest.

Best Regards,

Cucan

Depends whether the university considered you to be an employee or not, and/or whether they are willing to write the letter of employment.
