Very confused by what we need to get notarized as the checklist does no specificy that the photo copies need to be but my wife saw on the official website that they do need to be? We're a US/Canadian couple doing Outland. Can someone clairfy if we need to get the photocopies of our Birth Certificates, marriage certificate etc notarized? Thanks so much!

If it needed notarizing, the checklist or your country-specific requirements would state that.

No, you do not need them notarized, but you should be sending copies of the originals. For example, you should have a certified copy of your marriage certificate that you used to get your name changed. A copy of that document is acceptable.

So If I understand what you're saying, a photocopy isn't good enough? (from a copier?) It says photocopies on the checklist so I didn't think I'd need a certified copy. We never got our names changed so I don't have such a document. How would I obtain such a document from the United States? Will I need to do the same with my birth certificate and my wife's birth certificate as well? Get these certified copies?

Follow the checklist. Photocopies.

Just want to make sure it's not a trick question. They did something similar to our US application where they wanted something different then what they stated in the document list. They said it was written elsewhere on the website. Just want to avoid having the application sent back at all costs and doing things right the first time, that's all ^^;

Not trick questions. If you go looking for information elsewhere on the website, outside of the specific application package/checklist/guide, you will end up making mistakes.

Thanks. I reread the checklist and it does state photocopies for now unless its requested in the country specific which for the US is nothing.

Photocopies are all you need. Some people have sent in a copy of the marriage license and not a copy of the official certificate, so that was what I was trying to say. Didn't mean to make it more confusing for you. Sorry!

The marriage license is not accepted.

Okay yeah I have my official certificate that I photocopied. So I don't need to get the official copy then? One I did on a printer should be fine?

Yes, the one on the printer is fine. You're good to go.
