Canadian Immigration Application Query...

Hi All,

Apologies if this has been answered a million times before, I've tried using the forum's search function but haven't found an answer to my exact query.

I completed my immigration application today, to receive a "message" immediately which directed me to my application saying I was no longer eligible to be in the "pool" as I wasn't eligible for the Express Entry. I thought this was odd as I'd looked at the points system and figured I should have enough as English is my native language, I speak French to an intermediate level, have a University Degree, am a skilled worker and have over $40,000 to bring with me. Anyways, the message says I've not got enough points and a breakdown would be supplied below, but when I look it doesn't actually give me my points breakdown?

Is this because I haven't actually been accessed yet? Or I've missed something out? Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks! It just looks to me more like an error as there’s no points shown at all? Rather than simply not having enough...

If you are not eligible then they don't give any description.
Can you tell me what job code you are using, the amount you mentioned and total no of dependents (including you).

So, these are not the problem area. Maybe something else. try creating a new profile and check it again (it will confirm whether it is an error or not).
Maybe someone more knowledgeable will be able to put more light on it.

I also checked and they have put some requirements for this job code. I don't know whether this is essential at this stage.
.
Employment requirements
  • Completion of secondary school is required.
  • A university degree or college diploma in business administration or other field related to the product or service being sold may be required.
  • Several years of related retail or wholesale sales experience at increasing levels of responsibility are usually required.

There are two sets of eligibility that you have to pass. The first one is for the Programme and the second is the universal CRS points. If they have changed the criteria of what they are accepting for Express Entry, then you no longer qualify. If they have not calculated your CRS score, I'd guess that it is the programme score that is the problem. If you go to the Canada.ca website and take the 'do I qualify for Express Entry' quiz, that should give you an idea. If you fail, you should be able to identify the issue. If you pass, contact IRCC and ask them to double check in case an error has been made.

Have you done education assessment for you and your spouse? This happened to me before I got assessed by WES.

I did take a quiz and passed, which is why I thought it odd.

How do I contact IRCC, I searched and searched and couldn’t see a phone number?

WES (one of the Educational Credential Assessment - ECA providers) is the reason why your profile is not eligible. you should have a valid ECA report (from WES or other institutions in this list http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=681&top=29) at the time you create your profile (same for IELTS results btw)
@tfenton87 this is right. When you are filling your education page at the end of the form you will be asked if you have done education assessment in the last 5 years, if your answer is no, u won't be eligible. Please do the education assessment and you will meet criteria eligibility for skilled worker. All the best

In the quizz, it asks if you have a degree (bachelor, masters, etc...). However it doesn't ask you if you have a Education Credential Assessment, which is crucial for all foreign degrees. Indeed, any degree obtained outside Canada needs to be evaluated against Canadian equivalent.
Therefore, in the EE profile, if you answer "No" to the question as to whether you obtained an ECA or not for your foreign degree, it will automatically render you ineligible, as it's the equivalent of not having a degree at all.
Check if that's what you did. If it's the case, get ECA done, and enter the ECA reference number in your EE profile.
It's one of the most overlooked elements when creating an EE profile.

Guys thanks so much for the pointers. That will be it. I’ll run my degree thru the equivalent thingy and take an English language test!

When I’ve done those things can I edit my application or do I need to submit a totally fresh one ?

You can modifiy your EE profile as much as you want before ITA. After ITA, some details will be locked.
