Sponsoring Mexican Husband

Hello! My husband and I got married in September 2018 after being together for 3 years. He is from Mexico and I am Canadian. We are expecting a baby girl November 25th, 2018.

What is the next step? Family sponsorship or temporary resident card?

He is currently here on a tourist visa for another 6 months but we do not want to keep traveling all the time. He is not working and we would like the best route to take where he is able to get an open work permit as soon as possible as I will be on maternity leave beginning November 11th.

We have looked online and printed the application for spousal sponsorship. However we don't really know what we are doing and want to make sure we are taking the best route for all of this. Does anyone have a direct number we can call an official to ask questions directly? It's all very confusing.

You need to sponsor him. If you guys apply inland, he can include an OWP app, which takes about 4 months to get. There isn't an official you can call to ask questions. You just need to go through the guide and checklist.

There's definitely no official that does what you're asking about and the process is quite straightforward and simple. Read the guide and read this forum until you understand the basics. Any additional questions you may have can usually be solved here as well.

Paying lawyers or consultants thousands of dollars in fees isn't worth it in the vast majority of cases and most people do it alone.
