no travel in last 2 years

Hi All,

I am renewing my PR after finally completing RO requirement.
I stayed in Canada for 2 yrs without leaving country to complete my RO.

In the application do I provide copy of only my current passport which has stamp of Canada entry (2 yrs back) ...or do I need to include copy of old passport as well which has a lot of traveling (within last 5 yrs window) but that period is irrelevant as I was not residing in Canada and never traveled to Canada ... as i only came Canada in last 2 yrs and never left since than.

My current passport is of European nationality different than my old passport nationality (at the time first PR application)

I am thinking to keep things simple and only just provide copy my current passport and expired pr card.

Please anyone can suggest anything?

But you still need to answer question 21 as below so you cannot just declare last 2 years, whether this is passport stamps given some countries do not stamp any more or just a list .

Yes, I will declare all the absences/history of last 5 years, but under supporting documents I am only asked to provide valid passport copy.
So shall I still include expired passport copy or not?

From the instruction guide, it doesn't look like that you would have to provide all travel documents in your possession within the past five years (though for citizenship application, you would have to):

A photocopy of one of the following:

• your valid passport or travel document or
• the passport or travel document you had when you became a permanent resident (including the passport page that was stamped when you arrived in Canada and became a permanent resident) or
• the certificate of identity or travel document issued by the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada or a foreign country.

......
We may contact you for more information or ask you to provide more documents.

Keep in mind though that you would have to disclose all your citizenships in the PR card application, and you absolutely have to be truthful about it.

I'm not sure if not sending them the copy of all your passports in this case would draw scrutiny, but at least technically, on paper, you are not required to (though there is no stopping them from asking you to send them the copy later).

Hi Alberta

I'm in pretty much the same boat as you, just gathering docs having done the 2 continuous years and months on top of that, I've photocopied old passport with PR stamp on it and also new one, I'm also from Europe (British Citizen).

What are you sending off in total? i.e. docs wise? Just want to make sure I don't miss anything and send through everything correctly first time so as to not slow up the process.

So far I am aiming to submit the photocopy of the following

passport all pages
expired pr card
Job letter
NOA x 2 years
T4 X 2 2 years
Mortgage statements
some bill copies from 2016, 2017, 2018..not all as it will be too many pages

What are you submitting?

actually we have a baby born in Canada too, so thinking to attach child's birth certificate also

You should ask for a print out of all you doctors appointments. Will show that you have been in Canada. Probably better than a child's birth certificate. Not sure if you need more information but just a suggestion.

Hi Alberta

You actually spookily mirror my own situation somewhat, so since 2016 brought a house so I didn't think of submitting that but will as it can't hurt, just had a newborn here and have received her birth certificate and so that's another useful one. Aside from that was thinking of Passports both and copies of each page, T4 returns for last two years and also the photos and form itself
I'm currently out of work as of last week so can't send that but I didn't think they'd need that, we haven't been outside anywhere in two and half years to they can obtain that easy enough from CBSA.
Lastily I didn't know we had to send back expired PR card, with the bills very difficult to copy all but if I select a few then yeah will send them, god I've even kept ALL my receipts over two years for 90% of purchases.

So list:
Passport copies each page x 2 (expired and new)
Tax Copies x 2 years
Mortgage statement
Child Birth Certificate
Photos
Actual completed form

Is this necessary? I mean obtaining a a copy of ALL doctor appointments, obviously if you're healthy then you will have gaps so will that really address the evidence requirement?

No. Just a suggestion for the person thinking including their child's birth certificate. When you're pregnant plus postpartum period requires a ton of doctors appointments so a good proof that you have been living in Canada. If you are asked for more proof that you have been living in Canada the list of your doctors appointments may be a good option for people especially if they are not working and can not just send in work attendance records.

When you're pregnant plus postpartum period requires a ton of doctors appointments so a good proof that you have been living in Canada. Thanks for reply, just read how I sent a response to your original email and it was quite blunt so many apologies as you all do a sterling job. It's always a guessing game as to what to send and what not to send, hey worse case they'll send us packing back to Jolly Old England! Lol! Cheers

Sorry when I say T4 I mean the paperwork received from CRA once we've filed yearly taxes.....assume that's called NOA
