Leave Canada after entering on CoPR

There's already too much rubbish for me to respond to this banter. I state my opinion like everyone else and whoever wants can agree or disagree but no one can call my view on something rubbish.

I will surely not promote something that is illegal or frowned upon by IRCC.

If people are supposed to have their PR cards sent overseas then one should wonder what a PRTD is for.


As to the source regarding seizure, here's one posted by a third party which is a response from IRCC-

Thanks for sharing your situation with us.

Neither us nor CIC recommend mailing or couriering your PR Card to a location outside Canada. The reasons are:
1. The card could be lost
2. The card could be stolen
3. Your identity could be stolen if a dishonest person gets hold of your PR Card while enroute
4. Factors beyond your control could significantly delay the delivery of the card (i.e. service strike, strife, etc.)

Further, CIC representatives have stated "there is an understanding between Canada Post and CIC that if a PR card is found to be internationally bound, then they have the right to intercept and return it to CIC." Also, there is a chance that the customs officials at the other end may seize the mail for whatever reason.

If you send the card outside of Canada, you do so at your own risk.

Not that this concerns me much but I dare you to send an enquiry to IRCC regarding these 2 subject-matters and post their response here for everyone to see.

I can't say more than I already have, I have more important things to tend to now.

As stated above, the information we have received previously from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is that no, it is not illegal to send it via a secure method or with someone else. However, they stated that there exists the possibility that it be seized if found.

In both cases, the outcomes be problematic.

Unfortunately, this is all the information we have regarding this.

I read that when I provided the link and my answer to the op is the same. One should wonder why there exists the possibility of it getting seized and why IRCC specifically has an agreement with Canada Post to retain the cards and send them to IRCC.

On a side note, I can't but wonder why the statements on that website that are in my favor were dismissed and the ones which aren't fully in my favor are to be taken into account.

As to the second matter, having the card sent to a friend's address, you admitted yourself that occasionally an officer asks whether that's the person's address and not someone else's and that it can't be sent to anyone's address but the card's owner himself.

If something isn't made illegal, it doesn't mean it's Ok or it's the right thing to do. At the end of the day, different people have different preferences on privacy and knowing how rampant identity theft is these days, I would choose to get a PRTD if I were in that situation.

The mailing of the card or having it sent to someone else's address voids the purpose of the PRTD.

The op can decide to have the card sent somewhere and if it's lost, he'll have to report that to IRCC, pay a 50$, go through the whole process again and still would have to get a PRTD to come back.

This was the last response I post pertaining to this matter. This isn't a personal argument to me, this is just me helping someone to the best of my knowledge that's based on facts and common sense.

I do believe by the answers given we have all helped the op and he can make a sound decision.

People do it every day without issue and I'm sure they are all in their right minds. I don't recall ever seeing a thread where someone's mailed card was seized in any country. As for collecting it yourself, whether IRCC mails it to you in Canada or a friend mails it to you abroad, it will still be in the mail and face the same risks.

ive seen threads where passports were held up at carriers because of documentation anamolies. ive experienced international packages been opened and items missing by customs in india (they are all crooks btw). i for sure will never courier anything to india.

Guys, what I see here is..people are answering just with the instincts. Please take a moment and make sure you justify your answers when you answer it as someones future might depend on it.
If anyone is not sure on his/her claims please mention it that you are not sure.
