bringing our personal things. moving soon

hello,
we are a family of 3 (dad, mom, kid)moving in a few weeks. we are bringing all our household items with us but we still have plenty of pantry items (rice, dry beans, pasta, spices, toddler formula...) and personal hygiene things ( soaps, hand wash, shampoo, lotions, laundry detergent...) that are in our house as we buy in bulk and the immigration response came so quickly.
So my question is can we bring them with us duty free like our personal belongings,and pack them in the accompanying or to follow packages?
We are trying to save some money if we can avoid buying those things again and i dont think a trip to the grocery store is doable the first day of our arrival.

Would avoid bringing rice and dry beans to Canada. Once you declare the things to the immigration, they will decide whether you are allow to bring those or seized. If your arrival at the port of entry is early in the morning, I think you have plenty of time to do grocery shopping.

Bringing food items can just complicate the process given you must list in detail every item that you plan to bring and in fact advisable to first look at what would be confiscated anyway.

It’s unfortunate but disposing of things food included is just part of the immigration move and if you miss something on the list that should have been declared the fine (s) could outweigh the costs and inconvenience of replacing once in Canada. Don’t believe toiletries are an issue but if you have any prescription medicines they must be supported by a prescription and can only bring a 90 day supply.

So just saying weigh up the pros and cons of what you plan to bring on the basis you want to make the transition as trouble free as possible.

And one more question. we will be bringing some with us in the accompanying goods and some to follow since we will be shipping our stuff before we leave and they will reach canada shortly after us. do u think it is ok?

Its best not bring any food items. Baby formulae should be ok and so are toiletries.
Your shipment is fine too...just as long you make a list of goods to follow and submt it at customs upon landing first time...they will stamp your list and keep a copy in their records for when your stuff arrives.
