Regarding my biometrics status - We need your fingerprints to process your application - though I've done biometrics on September 12, yesterday I reported a technical issue, and raised CSE with the description of the problem. But the issue is that when raising CSE, you have to choose your visa office, which is processing your application. And your claim is directed there. As for me, I have no idea, which visa office is mine.
If you use the link in your AOR pdf, you shouldn't need the visa office (as it doesn't ask for one). I submitted both a CSE, and a technical issue, and heard back regarding the technical issue saying that it's an ongoing technical issue and they are looking to resolve it as soon as possible, and everything is fine with my application.

We have a Whatsapp group for August biometric applicants (if you'd like to join, and are not in it already). I think there were 6 cases like ours, where the Biometric status didn't show completed, even though the enrolment number shows.

Conducting Background check for USA applicants is very easy for Canada. USA has already done all the hardwork of strigent security checks, before they gave access to a person to reside in USA. Security records that are reqd later on, are given by the FBI, as and when reqd or requested. So Canada has a cake dressed ready to be taken and all they need to do, is to put a cherry on top :D and this reduces the background check time (IP2) dramatically for usa residents unlike residents from other countries.
I second that...

What about people who is toursit visa (US) holder? Do u think it easier to them (Canada) to check as well?

Hello everyone,
I was reading the forum anonymously, but a question in my mind convinced me to create an account and post it.
My AOR date is August 23rd, and my medical status changed to passed and I received the biometric instruction letter on September 18th. The same day (September 18th) the background check status changed to “We are processing your background check” (Which surprised me since it’s the wording of IP2). Anyways, I did the biometrics on September 26th and Biometric status changed to completed on September 27th (A day later). Background check status still was what supposedly called IP2. On October 2nd, however, I received the RPRF payment request (I did not pay it upfront obviously) and I payed it on October 3rd and uploaded the pdf.
After this long story, here is my question finally :)) On October 4th, the status of Additional Document change to not applicable and the background status changed to “Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start your background check”. So where am I exactly now? Why was the timeline backwards for me, first IP2 and then IP1? (I feel like Benjamin Button) :))
Any insight is highly appreciated.

P.S. I am applying from Iran btw.

While the officers from other countries, review documents for the purposes of tourism or immigration, they do give a positive regard towards any kind of US visa stamped on the passport. A tourist, is expected to stay in a country for a limited period and is then expected to exist the country. When a person is applying for a Canadian visit visa, then having a USA visit visa will be of advantage as it lowers the concern of the immigration officer towards the question 'will you exit the country within the given time frame and other security and economic risks'. For Canadian immigration, I however, do not think, unlike a US resident, a person who holds a USA tourist visa could enjoy the benefit of quick and earlier background checks because the Canadian security officers would yet need to screen the background of the applicant in depth unless the applicant is a resident or a citizen of the five eyes nations.

This just my thought....

Many people who need biometrics are rolling from IP2 back to IP1. The reality here is, that there was no true IP2 to begin with.

Thanks for help! Followed your advice and submitted CSE. After submitting saw the notice -
Your enquiry has been successfully submitted. We will get back to you with answers to your questions as soon as possible.

If your application is within normal processing times you will not receive a reply from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

Hope, they will read my claim, because I didn't exceed normal processing times.

oh would that be my case? because i reside in Algeria but i work in USA Embassy , can that be a reason why i jumped to IP2 very quickly and i got my ghost update not email today after 2 months only?
A very high probability :).. all the best!!!

What I had read from other applicants who had to get biometrics done is that, they get the status " we are processing your background check ..... " first and then it further moves ahead to " we are processing your application, we shall send you a message when we process your backgroundcheck "

At the moment, Indians dont require biometrics so i dint have to go thru this personally..

i Had called a couple of days back on +1613944400.. you need to follow the IVR till it reads out your status. After that press 0 to speak to an agent. i had to hold for almost 15 minutes before an agent responded. i had called around this time only (maybe an hour afterwards).

Thanks! :)

There were literally zero email notifications.
I checked my profile once in a day.
As per usual norms, the BG status went from,
"We will let you know once we start your background check" to "We are processing"

:)

did agent provide any significant info other than what is already visible in CIC website app status?
Our AOR and medical date is almost same..

Discouraging, but thanks for the truth
I had the same. BG check in progress for 2 months, biometrics completed and medicals passed. I managed to finally talk to an agent yesterday.
Told me that indeed my background check had not been started but eligibility has been 'met'.
So perhaps checking your eligibility too.
