Good to hear.First time I ever heard/read of such a case. Either you got super lucky or they implemented a new guideline. Seeing how paying 100 or 155 CAD instead of 255 CAD is one of the most common mistakes made it would certainly make sense to try to address that in this way.
Saves you time and saves them work.
I knew they’d approve it! There’s no way they’d do all that work with the payments if they hadn’t already decided it was approved. Great news.Good to hear.
Anyways, we received a follow up e-mail with an attachment saying that her Application to stay in Canada as a temporary resident (OWP, I assume) has been approved and we will be receiving it in the mail!
I have a question...on this document it also says that to allow her to travel to or re-enter Canada by air only, that they have issued her an eTA as part of this extension (valid until 2023/09/20). It's great that her eTA is now valid for 5 years (means we don't have to apply for a tourist visa extension), but I'm curious, we live on the boarder (Sault Ste Marie) and would like to travel into the States for pleasure via vehicle....is she allowed to do it right now?
I would wait until you have the actual work permit in the mail before considering to travel. Note that you always have to have this document with you when you re-enter Canada.Good to hear.

The eTA is valid for 5 years max, or the remaining validity of the passport, if less than 5 years. That eTA is the approval and authority for visa exempt foreign nationals to travel into Canada by plane. You don’t need this if you hold PR status, so it should be the only time your wife ever needs one.m
You don’t need the eTA for land border travel anyway, you can present yourself for CBSA assessment at any land border without one. Your wife will need an I-94 form, or a valid USA eSTA, to travel into the US, if she’s visa exempt from there too. When coming back into Canada, she will need to provide the work permit with her passport to prove her status and facilitate readmission.
Yes. We will definitely be waiting until we get her actual work permitI would wait until you have the actual work permit in the mail before considering to travel. Note that you always have to have this document with you when you re-enter Canada.
On another note: Independent of her new status as a worker, re-entry is never 100 percent guaranteed. In your spouse's case (worker status + visa exempt national) it is almost unheard of to be denied re-entry.
Do bear in mind that if your spouse does get rejected at the border for whatever reason the PR application is void. It's therefore always a very small risk to travel during the inland application.
That’s a good point about the risk of being refused entry, even if it is almost unheard of.I would wait until you have the actual work permit in the mail before considering to travel. Note that you always have to have this document with you when you re-enter Canada.

Waiting for information from CIC...
The physical work permit arrived in the mail today. Off to Service Canada for a SIN ...Our OWP was also approved on Friday, although it was still showing "in progress" at 8pm last night. This morning, mycic reports it as approved, expiring 2020.09.14.
I think I've read that the physical document will arrive in 3 or 4 days. I'll let you know when we get it.
Great news for you. I was told it takes about 10 minutes to issue your SIN, and to bring your passport, work permit, and another form of ID. If you have a provincial drivers licence already, bring that for sure. The physical work permit arrived in the mail today. Off to Service Canada for a SIN ...
