Agree with sandy.y, you will need something special. In addition to what sandy.y has mentioned (Canadian Education/French Stream/Siblings), you could improve your chances by:
  • Canadian work experience (1 yr of Canadian experience will get you about 70-80 pts based on other factors)
  • getting a skilled job+CLB9 (LMIA = only 50 pts, so you will need full score in IELTS/CELPIP to get more pts)
  • getting a job as a senior manager (NOC 00 job code's LMIA gets you 200 pts)
  • PNP (600 pts).
In general it sucks once you hit 40. What is worse is you lose 10 pts with each passing year :( It is all down hill from here, sorry.

Oh but the problem is my age is 37 nd my points are only 320
Just curious, if you are 37 then why is your first question about age 40?

you can apply as a student, get your masters there and try that route. dont tell them that you intend to immigrate at the visa interview. you will be denied.

I was 40 when I got ITA...411 CRS...PNP Ontario.

I am now 41...no update on the status of my visa yet.
Can you please give more details on your PNP Ontario? Was it Human Capital or Foreign Worker etc? I also have less than 440 CRS score so counting on PNPs to save me :( and age is against me as well :(:(

Can we get temporary resident permit and then apply for pr
Your question doesn't make sense.

You would apply for a TRV (temporary resident visa) if you want to visit Canada - not a TRP (temporary resident permit). TRVs are for people who wish to visit Canada as tourists. TRPs are for people who are inadmissible to Canada (typically due to a crime).

However if your objective is PR, then having either a TRV or TRP gives you no advantages. You still need to qualify and apply just like anyone else. If you want PR, then you should focus on applying for PR directly.

I applied through a consultant. I got points for double bachelors, age, work experience & IELTS.

all I know is that I am a PNP outland applicant.
Oh waow, that's amazing. Did you have a job offer/LMIA in Canada? or French language? I always though one needed something special (like job offer/French) to get Ontario PNP. Do you mind sharing your NOC code or your specialization, may be that was something Ontario really wanted! just curious and would like to see how I would fare.
