Medical inadmissibility rules changes

Hi, could you please clairify to me one thing. My mom had breast cancer stage 2. She is done with her surgery, chemos and radiation. All she is left is with injections and some medications for next 5 years. Per year cost is $8000. She has already applied for Permanent Residecy in express entry. Recently they asked her to submit documents asking about current status of medical condition and what all treatment is left. I'm just wondering will the new rules apply to her as well? Till what amount expenditure per year do they allow? Thanking you in anticipation.

Hi ,sorry to hear about your mom’s breast cancer , I have few questions regarding breast cancer ,please if you can answer me ,( my mother also diagnosed with breast cancer stage 2 , she has done with surgery now waiting for the next treatments , ) is your mom right now in Canada or outside ? Did her cancer spread on lump node ?also did you inform cic about her cancer ? I am really worried about my moms treatment , she is in Canada now and I am also waiting for the decision of her application.

While waiting for answer on medical for PR I can apply for an open work permit. Do I have to do another medical for that permit or The PR one. I will be hoping for a job in Health care .

I have Ankylosis spondylitis on Humira.

If already in Canada I still have to prove funds as I have settled.

Folks, Request your advice/feedback based on your experience. My AOR is July 18th. My case is a bit complicated because of a medical condition for my kid so I suspect the decision may not be straight forward. I am banking on the recent changes to medical inadmissibility criteria and limits.

This being the case, my anxiety levels are sky high now. The status of my application still says - medical records under review. It's been in that status since 7/August.

Since this status hasn't changed for a while now, should I start expecting a procedural fairness letter in the coming weeks?

Has there been any case of medical pass after a long medical reports processing stage?

It depends on your child's medical condition.
If you specify his diagnosis and current treatment I may be able to tell you more.

He has development delays due to unknown reasons (couldn't be associated with any known syndromes), currently on growth hormone and going to spl ed school. We would need periodic specialist visits as well.

Have submitted the specialist reports. I know that HGH injections are very expensive but we may not continue on that forever.

There are couple of brand HGH available on the market. Exactly what is the brand name of the HGH your child are administered? How often he or she receives injection?
Just find out the approx. Price over the net and make calculations.
It is worth to point that not all provinces pay 100% the price of the medicine. Which province are u intended to reside and mentioned in your application?

Given the growth hormone treatment this is more complex that just special needs and there must be other things they may be anticipating. Unknown paediatric disorders would likely take longer to process while they research and consider potential needs. I would also guess things like generic studies are likely needed. Unknown diseases often cost more than known problems and the growth hormone is already very expensive and will likely be needed for the foreseeable future if your child is still young. You are at least lucky because you would have been refused based on special ed before April. Unfortunately I would expect a procedural fairness letter.

The panel doctor told me that she respects my honesty and that a lot of people trying to hide land up in trouble later on, specially while applying for citizenship after a few years.

Really it is better to do this now than during citizenship as the panel physician said.

There are no medicals required for a citizenship application, and if granted PR, then Canada will already be using the public health system to pay for whatever needs to be paid.

Why is the citizenship process being mentioned here? If I am missing information regarding this, I would love to know more

Has anyone sponsoring their mother with cancer had any issues? I have applied for my mother this year and should be getting medical soon. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2008 and then last year. She is currently cancer free.
I’m so anxious I feel like I’ll end up begging the doctor. She is in Toronto so the medical will most likely be here.

I personally know someone from this group, she had cancer then cancer free she got her pr , she just provided a letter of explanation. She was treated for her cancer in Canada so she didn’t have to provide anything to cic as they already had her medical reports in their system.

He's on nutropin (0.4mg per day) right now. The point is as per his lab work outs he really did not need GH externally, but we just started the HGH injections on an experimental basis. But the panel physician suggested we mention the medication in the application even though it's experimental.

Though we made a short note of this in the reports, i am thinking that I should probably have included a detailed report on this.

Now that the application is in progress, do you think I can now upload an additional detailed report from his doctor explaining this (medically unneeded and experimental medication)? If so, should I give this report to the panel physician and request them to upload or are there any other way to do this?

It is really hard to comment on your case because your child has an unknown disease. If you are working with a lawyer who specializes in medical inadmissibility I would ask them. It seems like your file is already at the panel physician stage so not sure whether any new information will get to the physician in time.

Thank you. Do you have any suggestions for a good lawyer for medical inadmissibility cases? I am from the US West coast. Not sure if there are anybody here who deals with these cases, so have to get in touch with someone in Canada I guess.
