March - 2018 Citizenship Applicants

It depends where you are originally from. If you are from unstable countries like Syria, Libya, Yemen, or Iran and maybe others, it will take few months for the background check to complete. I have friends who wrote the exam in the same week and only the friends from the above countries had to wait 5-6 months for the oath invite but other friends got it within 2 weeks.

Thanks Kamil, I am originally from India. I hope they process it bit faster as it is quite frustrating. I work for an airline so I already have done my security Clarence few time. My PR is expiring this month and I was really hoping not to renew it. But I guess I will renew it since they can take up to 1 year.

Hi everyone,

Not long ago in 2013 I was on another group comparing dates and what not for sponsorship. Luckily my husband got the PR earlier than what they stated on the site for processing times. Now we are applying for citizenship for him.

I’ll list what they said online for him:

1. We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on April 3, 2018.
2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on April 25, 2018.
3. We started processing your application on June 26, 2018.
4. We sent you correspondence on July 27, 2018. If you have not yet provided the information or the requested documents, please do so as soon as possible. Please wait until you receive the correspondence before sending us additional information, as the correspondence will outline all information that is required. (Finger prints done) I

They emailed him telling him to come
Do the test on September 6, and sadly he failed 12/20 ! I know it’s because he didn’t study the book and he only studied the online practice test which is not bad but before you go ahead and do the practice test read the book at least once or twice.

So now we are here waiting for them to give us another test date. The lady said in 3-4 weeks he will get an email. Anyone here with a similar story?

Btw he has been here for a total of 1198 days when we did the application.

Thats absolutely fine, they will again send test invite as told in 3-4 weeks. People do get fail & gets invitation to appear for test again but procesing time depends on office. Just study hard this time and try to read book atleast twice.

We are in Ottawa and I heard Ottawa is faster? Or I might be wrong. But anywho
He is studying the book now so now I know for sure he’ll pass the second time! Hoping they send an email soon.
