Hi Everyone,

I got a job offer as a postdoctoral fellow and am in the process of applying for work permit from outside Canada. I also plan to apply for Temporary Resident Visa for my wife and child (2 months old) to accompany me. She will later apply for Open work permit at the border when we arrive Canada. My questions are these;

1. How do we apply together online? If I fill form IMM1295 and also the family information form indicating that they (wife and child) would accompany me, does this automatically mean, we are applying together?

2. If the answer to 1 above is yes, then should I also scan and submit there passports and upload with mine in the corresponding upload sections?

3. If the answer to 1 above is no, do I need to fill temporary resident visa form (IMM5257) for both of them and upload together with my IMM1295 form in the application form upload section?

Please, I need help from those experienced with these. Thank you...

Hello,

I Will asume you're doing the process online.
After you create the GCKey user. You are suppose to fill a questionnaire, the questionnaire will create the checklist of the documents you need to submit for your application, while filling the questionnaire one of the question is if a family member is accompanying you to Canada; you have to select yes and proceed to answer the questions (starting with your wife) when you finish it will ask you again if you want to add someone else to the application, you will select yes again and will add your baby.

Based on your answers it will give you a checklist with the forms you need to submit for each applicant. I will suggest you apply for your wife owp during that time so you don't have to deal with that while in Canada.

What I mentioned above will be done before you get to the point of filling the IMM1295.

Now to answer question 1 the answer is NO. Filling the IM1205 and the family information form indicating they will come to Canada with you won't add them to your applica
