Express Entry - The system's granted me more points that it should have

Hello there!

I'd really appreciate help of someone who knows how this whole system works. I'm super anxious about this.

So I've applied for express entry poll in Feb 2018, I have 1 year of work experience and 2 years of po-secondary education; with a canadian sibling - my points totalled to 434 (I remember seeing this in my profile 100%).

I knew that my points are low and based on the cut off each time they pulled, I was not surprised I'm no being invited. I was waiting for 2 year work experience mark as I know my points will go up a bit.

I've logged into my account recently and noticed that my points are 459. I worked it back and it looks like the system is calculating my points based on 2 year work experience. I do not understand why, as I double-checked and the start date for my job is stated as September 2016 - which at the moment is 1 year and 11 month. But the system is giving me two years, do you know why?

Plus, if those are the points I have, why was I not invited to apply earlier? For example, the last time they pulled, the cut off was 451 (which I should have qualified for based on the current incorrect points in my profile).

I would really appreciate your help guys!! Thanks so much in advance!

System does not consider days but awards based on month so it awarded beginning of 12th month. It would be wise of you submit e-apr post ITA only when you have completed 24 months.

the system currently does not account for exact dates and hence tends to overestimate your work experience duration. for example, Mar 24 2017 - Mar 1 2018 would be considered as 1 year and 1 month when in reality it wasn't even a year. such mismatches are looked into or calculated precisely when they process your pr application from what I've been told in this forum.

So people who lose those points due to this and are found to be below cut off are denied their application and hence you need to evaluate this in case you receive an ITA before you submit the application.

My apologies if it's a stupid question, but what does e-apr stand for?

Thank you so much for taking your time to reply. This makes sense, but doesn't make sense at the same time - why would they make it so confusing for people.. like the whole process is not stressful enough in its own.

So, for example, what if I get an ITA next week? My 2 year mark is September 1st. Should I reject an ITA and wait to get another one once I hot 2 year mark for real? Or should I just wait until September until I accept the ITA issues 'next week". How does it work?

You can proceed with such ITA but you should not submit your e-APR before completing 2 years of work experience.
