I am very sorry to hear that. Can you please clarify, when did your parents receive the permanent resident application.
As per the temporary public policy, if your parents received PR application on and after 16 April 2018, then it will be treated under new policy. refer to temporary public policy here - https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/mandate/policies-operational-instructions-agreements/excessive-demand-june-2018.html

Also the fairness letter would list many more details, which will tell you whether the application was considered under new norms or the old one. If the application was received before the Apr 16, and if the listed medical facts doesn't pump up the health related expenses (as listed in fairness letter) more than 19K, the solution would be to reapply for PR.

PR application received in 2017, but still under process. But the fairness letter we got is mentioning the visitor extension so I guess right now they are worried about visitor extension.

For PR they just got request to do some more tests.

Knowing more about the case there is a significant amount of Canadian medical debt that was created by the most recent hospitalization so even at the higher level extension will likely not get approval. It was the father's 2nd expensive hospital admission in Canada in under 3 years. There also seems to be a limit for PR and another one for temporary visas. Not sure if that will go away.

You are right, but our plan is not to keep it as Canadian debt as first admission is already paid off and the second admission payment is also in process. But I understand you point.

I can share my story and my progress with everyone.

This is my medical situation;

I have had done my medical on April 30.
I have couple of old medical situations (heart surgery as infant; no medication, perfectly healthy. Cancer history; underwent surgery and took chemo 9 years ago, no routine medication or complications, perfectly healthy) and the panel physician asked the last visit notes from my oncologist. The oncologist said in her report that I may need another surgery for prophylactic reasons (to prevent any possible diseases that may occur in the future).
The panel physican told me that this might be a problem but we have to wait and see what the immigration officers say about it.

I am afraid that they will see it as an extra burden, but i do not plan to have surgery in Canada anyway, with no family members to help me recover etc. but i guess it is not possible to explain and convince physicians/immigration officers about that.

now, i am waiting for panel physician to upload documents. then, i will submit my application.
i will keep these info updated, for anyone that may benefit from.

I kinda am in the same boat. I haven't had my medical yet. But I am a Trigeminal neuralgia patient and I consume regular medication. It's 3 medicines daily.
I have had treatments for it with injection of anesthesia. And RFA once which didn't really help my case hence the anesthetic injections. Now I am better, in a working condition with the blessings of God. Do you or anyone else think I could be rejected on the basis that I require regular medication and it might be a burden on Canadian economy?
Someone suggested I just need my doctor's letter to prove me fit.

Can someone please help me giving me an idea of what to do and how to approach this situation?

I was asked for specialist's report on June 15th which I submitted immediately. Again on 29th June, I was asked to provide a report on Humira dosage, starting date etc which I did. Since then, my profile shows 'We are reviewing your medical reports', along with eligibility and background checks underway. I did receive a 'ghost email' on 18th August. Does anyone know what this means? My score is 486 and I am a postdoctoral fellow in Univ of Alberta. My husband works for AMD, Markham, GTA. I am the principal applicant.

They are calculating the cost of your Humira on your dosage.
Not sure what you mean by a ghost email.

Cost of treatment in general but Humira is a big factor.

Yup there are monthly test but those don't cost more than 50 dollars a month and if you are stable your doctor will only see you once a year. Anticipated cost of complications is not factored as far as I know. Humira alone will hit about 19000 a year so it's cutting it very close .

There are also doctors visits, perhaps an X-ray, MRI or CT, etc. Everything is added up including yearly physical at GP and any other Rx medications.

Yup but it difficult to estimate ongoing as some patients are cold some are hot. There is no rountine X ray or CT scan for RA.
