Anyone applied a Student Permit from Philippines?

11 weeks bago naaprove kasi hinanapan ako police clearance sa Libya. Nag explain na lang ako na di ako makakakuha kasi di naman sila nag iissue ng pcc sa non residents tapos pinakita ko ulit mga immigration stamps ko showing umuuwi ako yearly at never akong na ban or blacklisted sa country na yun. Be truthful lang, it helps to read past posts dito..And dami ko natutunan. Binasa ko talaga from page 1 to 791,hehehe..pag kailangan clarification,magtanong...

Hi guys..just wanted to share my experience in applying my Student Visa together with my husband's OWP as a way of giving back here sa forum na naging source of much needed info while I prepared my application..

Background:
Me and hubby ( both 36 yrs old ) are OFW in Saudi for 10 years with 3 kids. But during our application hindi ko muna isinama ung mga bata to increase the percentage of approval ( family ties issues ). My first application, lodged through a Consultant was rejected ( lesson learned ) and to save money, ung second application I did it myself through Online Application..

Academic Qualification: BS Mechanical Engg ( 2003 graduate )
Intended Study sa Canada : Construction Management
Work Experience : HR ( Construction company )


Timeline:
March 6 - initial application (paper based through the consultant )
April 4 - Rejected
-Financial Capability
- Travel History
- Purpose of Visit
- Employment Prospect in the country of residence
- Personal Assets and Financial status
April 5 - I applied GCMS notes
May 5 - Received GCMS notes with detailed rejection reasons
May 9 - Resubmit Application ( Online )
May 22 - received passport request / Approval

Supporting Documents Submitted

Me ( Student Visa Application )
- Letter of Explanation ( based on GCMS notes. I explaned my reasons ko lahat nung rejection reasons )
- Statement of Purpose
- Letter of Acceptance
- Academic Credentials ( TOR, WES , Diploma , PRC Licenses )
- Employment ( Payslips, Employment Certificates - current and previous employers , Study Leave Approval , CV )
- Travel Stamps ( no other countries aside from Phil and Saudi )
- Birth Certificate and Marriage Contract
- Saudi Residence Permit ( with Translation )
- IELTS Academic
- Saudi Police Clearance
- NBI

Husband ( Open Work Permit )
- Letter of Intent ( to accompany me )
- Employment Records ( Certificate of Employment, CV..)
- Academic Records ( same as mine since we have the same degree )

continuation...about sa reason of rejection, here are some tips..

Financial capability
- I don't know what our consultant did kasi ang nakasuat sa GCMS, Employment Certificate ko lng daw ung naresiv nila and no other means of financial support daw..and so, I explained na we have 2 bank accounts, one in Philippines and 1 in Saudi..during my 2nd application, ung Bank Certificate ko from Saudi is almost 1 mth na and ung sa Philippines anmin is medyo recent..I also included ung bank statement..please note that ung bank sa Philippines is may recent big amount na ipinasok last January ( less than 3 mths ) so to explain this, I provided a letter from my husband's company na nakaresiv xa ng End of Service benefits in ganitong amount. and then a Deed of sale ng isang property namin na notarized ng Philippine Consulate ( by the way, ang proof of fund is CAD 55,000 ). I also paid the first semester tuition and added the official invoice from the school..

Travel History
- wala kaming travel anywhere, kahit asean countries.. but since OFW kami, cnabi ko lng dun na once a year lng ang uwi namin as per contract and we opted to spend this sa fmaily in Philippines para makilala at makasama ng mga anak namin ang mga relatives namin..

Purpose of Visit
- main reason sa SOP is to upgrade my qualification...explained to d max why I will take Construction Management when my Academic qualification is Engineering and my work experience for the last 10 years is in HR..

Employment Prospect..
-naka help ng malaki ung Study Leave letter ko from the company, stating na they allow me for a study leave of 2 years and that they will maintain my residency status while in Canada ( please note, sa mga kapwa OFW, wala akong sinumbit na Re-entry, Iqama copy lng )

Personal Assets and Financial Status
- made a summary ng finances namin ( Liquid funds and Property ). I included land title ng property namin sa pinas and just indicated the purchase amount. hindi me nag submit ng valuation report..

Inabot ng 3 pages ung Letter of Explanation ko.... suggestion ko sa mag aapply pa lng, address above issues kasi yan ung mga parameters ng VO sa pag check ng application natin..be subtle na lng sa SOP nyo on how to address them na hindi masyadong halata na u are answering ung mga parameters..

You need one from the last 3 months so yes you need a new one. Mga 8 days raw if wala hit if meron mga 2 weeks

kelan ang intake mo? parang medyo matagal at wala ka pang medical request.. did you upload all the documents? i mean walang pending documents and paid the visa fee?

May medical request napo and done na with medical. Im just waiting for the next steps like kung gano katagal maaprove yung sp once tapos na ang medical (assuming approved na lahat) and eventually gano katagal bago makuha ang visa?

Wala sa medical request yan kasi minsan late dating ng medical request tapos once namedical lalabas agad ang result ng application. Minsan naman after submission ng application after 1 day may medical request na tapos mga after 5 weeks pa lalabas ang result. Nowadays ang estimated processing time ng application nasa 5 weeks

it took me around 33 days to have the decision of my application. Submitted my application on VFS Makati last June 13 and had my medical June 28, by July 16 may decision na.

nursing graduate ng 2006 ang kaibgan ko dahil in boom ang nursing nuon. pero ang work exp niya for more than 7years is more on hospitality and tourism. what course dpt itke nya sa cad. forte niya is customer interaction kesa sa my mga sakit.

Yes lahat lahat from submission to result and anything inbetween.

course mismatch meaning? you cant study other courses? even if your work exp is not related to the course you took?

May I suggest, if you have Coop, make the most out of the opportunity. Do networking and volunteer work. Sobrang na appreciate nila yun here kasi it's a form of Canadian work experience na din. Also, 3 months before you graduate, start networking, updating your resumes and applying for jobs. The process takes a long time but worth it in the end.
