Its IP2 ... RCMP request is a common request if you have been in Canada for 6+ months.. don't sweat over it.. My spouse was requested on 23 May but the very next day, 24 May IRCC sent another email that RCMP report is not required :D
that is so so weird, there is letter attached that they need criminal check and fingerprints and please contact nearest police station blaa blaa||:D we need additional documentation to process your application...confused..i do really hope that i will receive letter where they will say that they don't need fingerprints, but than again who knows:cool:

So for my own RCMP letter I visited an RCMP authorized finger printing center(https://www.redsealnotary.com/fingerprinting.html). They took my fingers prints(digital) and sent it to RCMP through the online system. I remember paying around $58
Received the letter by post(regular mail) within a week/10 days time.

Ok what confuses me is that i thought that cic do their own criminal check?;)I guess they don't  well I don't have any problems of going to rcmp and giving my fingerprints, maybe it is because from July 31 everyone from Europe and other countries are required to submit fingerprints, so they are applying those changes already now?these

IMHO, IRCC works with CSIS, CBSA and RCMP to perform criminality, background and security checks.
