Hello Experts,

I have a question regarding visitor visa of my first cousin. Our niece is studying in Ontario and she will be having her convocation in August 2018. My cousin (her uncle) was taking care of her as her father died in an accident few years back. Now she wants her uncle to visit her on convocation as he is the one who was taking care of her since her father died. Now, he will be visiting her on convocation and me in Alberta. As she is a student and has not enough money but I am working full time in IT. Can someone guide me what documents will be required from me and her to support his visa? I have around $22000 in account. My cousin lives in a joint family along with his dependent parents and children. He own 3 school buses and school cafeteria. I would really appreciate if someone could help me.

Thanks

1. If you are a PR, it would be better if you invite your cousin instead of your niece.

2. Your finances are secondary. Your cousin must prove he has the finances to afford the visit + airfare

3. Purpose of visit would be the convocation + sightseeing, etc

4. In addition to his business ties, what strong ties does he have: Property/land ownership + is he married and has children + financial investments + has he traveled to visa-required countries (US, UK, Schengen, Australia, NZ)?

Thanks a lot for the reply @Bryanna

1. I am not PR but will be becoming PR soon. I am thinking that my niece should apply as Convocation ceremony is a better option and my cousin sponsored her for her studies in Canada and they live in joint family.

2. My cousin owns 3 school buses and leasing a cafeteria in school.

3. Purpose is fine.

4. He has 3 children and a wife dependent on him but has no travel history to visa required countries.

Now, my only confusion is should I send him invitation letter along with niece's invitation letter or a financial support letter will be fine? I will be writing in letter that he will be staying with niece for 3 days on convocation and I will also join her in Ontario and rest of the days cousin will be staying with me in Alberta. He also has a childhood friend in Alberta who is Canadian citizen. Don't know if I should include his address too for visiting.

The emotional connection that he paid for your niece's education doesn't matter. It is irrelevant to his TRV application. If you have a WP, you're better qualified as a host to support your cousin's visit as compared to your niece.

His Canadian friend can send a separate invitation letter. IMO, it should not be the sole invitation letter

Thanks @Bryanna . I will wait for another month then as I will be getting my PR soon and then invite on my behalf.
