Referred to IRB: 09-Aug-2017
Hearing cancelled: 11-Oct-2017
Original hearing scheduled: 18-Oct-2017
Got informed by lawyers of hearing being rescheduled: 16-May-2018
Expected hearing date: 12-July-2018

This is in Calgary by the way.
Congratulation. May I ask where are you from? Another question is if the office of IRB that our case is there is important for waiting time? Is the Toronto IRB the most crowded and slow IRB office in Canada?

Time is the same for all the offices across Canada. For example, claimants in Vancouver can have their hearing held through video conferencing with IRB members from other cities.

That is very hopeful. That means they are scheduling hearings for the applicants of August 2017. My application was in October 2017. I think soon will be our turn. Nice!

It means nothing dear, my application refered to IRB on February 2017 and nothing since then.
As I read all the previous posts it seems, sadly, your case was an unfortunate exception, and usually, people were invited faster than your example. Let's cross fingers and wish the best for all refugee applicants.

One of my friend got his hearing date in July, He came in june 2017.
Thank you for this great news. I wish you wrote more about this friend so we could compare ourselves with him/her.
BTW it seems one year waiting is the most possible option.
Thank you.

A good news.
A friend of mine who applied oct2017 and his interview was postponed in Dec 2017 and was an expedited applicant was accepted this week that means 5 months after the postponement without hearing.

sorry friends for a delay in letting you know. As Jalalcanada said, I got accepted without a hearing. Although, these things are all very much case-by-case in nature, the hope is high that those under expedited will be accepted within reasonable period of time. Wishing you all very best.
