Yes you will have to go through the officers in that case. Even with Nexus you can be asked to go for secondary inspection

To guys whoever commute daily from Windsor to Detroit.. If you work on US employer's payroll and get paid in USD, what residential address are you giving in your employer's system? I presume the system doesn't take any address other than US address.

Very glad to find this post. Please count me in for those who wish to get Canadian citizenship while working in USA.

My situations are much tougher. I accepted a job on H1B in Connecticut and I plan to drive back to Quebec on weekends to get 4 out of 7 days Canadian residence in the near future. The four days will be Fri (day entering Canada), Sat, Sun and Mon (day leaving Canada).

Getting a Nexus card is quite useful for faster clearance at customs and will save a lot of time in the long run.

According to my limited research and based on the friendly feedback from the other post http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-im...e-time-calculation.451557/page-3#post-6127610, we need to face serval issues that may hurt the chance of citizenship.

1) car imported to USA from Canada, with insurance changed from Canada to USA. This may be considered as having weaker 'Canadian tie'.

2) tax filed to both USA and Canada, lengthy procedures depending on which province and which state.

3) lack of evidence for a 'real life' in Canada. Advice from senior members who got citizenship after residence questionnaire: reserve a credit card that only pays bills or spending in Canada. Keep receipts that can support real life activities in Canada,

4) mis-recorded entry information. As suggested by several senior members in the forum, it is useful to keep a detailed log for border crossing trips. The USA and Canada customs may be unable to provide accurate trips logs for everyone due to the amount of tedious work.

I also commute to Connecticut from Quebec regularly.. Do you want to catch up once and see if we can do car pooling, etc.

Yep, I did. It was a breeze.
I am commuting everyday. Haven't had any issues so far.

I dont have Nexus yet. I dont commute daily but its not too difficult without Nexus also.. I am planning to apply for Nexus now.

Hey..Are you doing Vancouver-Seattle commute ?? I am planning to shift to Vancouver and start working for employer in Seattle. They have agreed
that i can work few days remotely from Vancouver. I recently got Canadian PR and I am currently working in Ottawa (moved from SF bay area). Considering this new opportunity in Seattle for better prospects . I will be on H1B to work in US.

Can you guide me how immigration would handle entry/exits for me.

I have lived in US for years but in Canada it has only been 2 months. Am i eligible to apply for Nexus ??
If not Nexus, would they stamp my passport every time i enter and exit. I will be entering USA once a week. Will stay in US for 3 days and then back to canada for the rest of the week. At least thats the plan

No, Your passport will not be stamped everyday. You need to have stamped H1B along with Paper I94 ( If you dont have paper I-94, you will get it while entering by road first time when they send you in, simple process)

Having a residential address does not matter, in the paystub. You can have Canadian address or US address, it does not matter. However you wil still be taxed accordingly.

Having a residential address does not matter, in the paystub. You can have Canadian address or US address, it does not matter. However you wil still be taxed accordingly.

Didn't get you.. what if one doesn't have a US residence address to give to US employer? Giving friend's address is the only way? Is that way everyone commuting border daily do?

did you get any warning message from T-mobile about the international usage? There is a fine print in the agreement that 50% of the usage should be in the U.S. in a three month period.
I used to have Verizon service and had no issues with coverage, but after switching to T-Mobile, no coverage in places like Malls. Not a big deal but just noticed it.

Should be just fine. The moment you get any warning, just add a Canada package on T Mobile. T Mobile Rocks!
